Soldier of Marathon

Signed and dated in Rome in 1885.After initial training at the School of Fine Arts in Seville , José Arpa passes to Rome grant from the council, made especially history paintings, among which it is located, where thanks to his mastery for drawing and color gets a great anatomical study. Restless artist, one of the first painting landscapes outdoors, traveling by Morocco and settled for many years in Mexico and Texas, developing a very personal work, influenced by chromaticism and strong nature of those places.
