Submachine Gun

Thompson Submachine Gun, Model 1928, serial number 5678, Cal 45 ACP with a 50 round magazine drum and detachable butt stock and Cutts compensator. Manufacturing marks include "US Navy." Officers never carried weapons of any kind in areas where inmates were – partly because inmates outnumbered officers by as many as 10 to 1, and the danger of an officer being overpowered and his weapon taken was too great. Instead, only officers in locked “gun galleries” and towers ever carried weapons.
