The Winton guesthouse was designed by Gehry in 1983 for a residence in Wayzata, Minnesota, which has an entirely different type of design by Philip Johnson. The guesthouse is a grouping of one-room buildings that are differentiated by cracks. Flanking a tall central living-dining space are two bedrooms, one curved and the other with a shed roof, as well as a long rectangular section intended for service and kitchen functions. The sketch in the lower right is a view of the building from the outside. Known for his use of sculptural form as in the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Spain , unveiled in 1997, Gehry captured in these sketches the dynamic relationships of his sculptural grouping.
