Woman's hat

Gwenn Pennington 1975/1990

Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Boston, MA, United States

Black hat covered by black feathers (peacock?) that surround the top of the hat beginning at a central point at the crown of the hat and falling around the sides. Interior consists of a square piece of stiffened fabric that has stiffened feathers that support the construction of this hat. Stiffened cotton knit in intersecting rows borders the velvet covered wire which gives the interior structured feathers the support needed to prob the hat on the wearer’s head.
