AILEY is a performing arts organization dedicated to the artistic mission of its founder, the dancer and choreographer Alvin Ailey.

Alvin Ailey made history with his dance works, which embraced Black cultural heritage and centered African American dancers, forever changing the trajectory of American modern dance. AILEY upholds Mr. Ailey’s legacy, continuing to present his ballets while uplifting new choreographers, nurturing young dancers, and sharing the joy of dance with everyone.

Founded in 1958, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is one of the world’s premier dance companies and the foundation of America’s largest modern dance organization. AILEY is the umbrella organization with five main program areas: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, The Ailey School, Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs, and Ailey Extension.
