Over these first ten years, the Plaza Walls Mural Expo has grown from a bold experiment into a defining piece of Oklahoma City’s cultural DNA. What began as a few murals in one alley has multiplied into over 500 murals statewide, turned forgotten or “sketchy” spaces into places people seek out, boosted the local art economy, given artists a consistent platform, and helped OKC win national attention (e.g. being voted a Top Street Art City by USA Today) not just once, but twice.

Looking ahead, the next decade promises deeper community engagement, expansion of artist opportunities, even more ambitious public art interventions, and greater integration with tourism, local business growth, and civic identity. We look forward to many more years to come!
