Rossini Quintas Perez
is one of the most respected Brazilian engravers. An internationally known artist, he experimented with various artistic languages and techniques —drawing, painting, and metalwork — not only in the elaboration of his dies and engravings, but also in the creation of unique and singular objects for personal use. His path even led to photography, a discipline that attracts him to this day and forms an extensive collection. The exhibition presents a sample of Rossini Perez's artistic production contained in the Engraving Collection of the National Museum of Fine Arts.

In the 1950s, favelas, hills, boats, and piers were depicted on Rossini's linoleums. The works are marked by successive, distinct lines and planes.

The 1960s are a successful time for production and experimentation, which had already begun in previous years. By this time, Rossini had already settled in Paris.

At the end of the 1960s, the reliefs appeared, and the use of color was more consistent. Moving away from abstract work, he sought themes in memories of childhood or in Africa and adopted an interpretative language of certain elements: skeins of wool, knots, bracelets, buttons, ribbons, etc.
