Hi Gilbert, This extension prevents you from closing the entire Chrome window without warning not individual tabs. That is a feature we may add in the next version.

Very nice and useful, but its implementation is strange and it needs to be hidden like other extensions . It better be active all time and hidden . Thanks

I wish I could make it 'Auto-Enable' but unfortunately due to bad actors who would take advantage of 'Auto-Enable' to run malicious code, Chrome permanently disabled the ability to have an 'Auto-Enable' feature for user safety concerns. It is good thing that they did, but I preferred the old days when this extension used to be automatically enabled. I would really prefer if Chrome would make this extension unnecessary by simply adding the 'Are you sure you want to close Chrome?' prompt to be part of Chrome itself.

Doesn't work the way I had hoped, offering a warning when the window is closed, not the tab - so basically it won't stop you closing any website unless there are no other tabs open in that window. I was hoping for something that automatically engages on specific websites, not something that needs to be turned on manually every time. Having to have a weird extra tab open to operate the app is clunky to say the least, and the visual design of the app is ugly and excessive.

Hi Jeremy, Thanks for your 'kind words'. This extension prevents you from closing the entire Chrome window without warning not individual tabs. The locking of individual tabs is a feature we may add in the next version.

I can see no reason at all why you need to Read browsing history Manage apps, extensions, and themes These are the sort of activity used by hackers. Well, not on my computer. I've been using the app for a while now, it WAS brilliant. Now, it is disabled and going to be uninstalled.

Hi Chris. First, that is a very harsh reaction, we are happy to answer any questions you have about Chrome Close Lock. I'm not sure if you know or not but the source code of any extension, including this one, can easily be viewed on your computer, nothing is hidden, nothing is nefarious. If you don't know how to read code, you can take the source code into chat gpt and prompt it to explain what each line of code does. Have it walk you through each line of the code step by step so you can see that this version does the same thing as the previous version. In order to fix some of the bugs in the last version we had to change some of the methodology of how the extension works. Google has gone to great lengths to make sure extensions do not contain malicious code. Every extension, and every update to an extension has to be approved by Google before it can be published to the Chrome store. This is why we can no longer make the Chrome Close Lock auto-enabled on startup. As developers, in order to use some built in Chrome commands, we have to enable corresponding permissions to allow the commands to work. I know it can sound scary when it says it needs new permissions and it doesn't explain to you why it needs the new permissions. A quick example is browsing history, the extension needs that to read what the status of the Chrome Close Lock tab was, if it should happen to change. Was it enabled and now disabled? Was it last in the initial state of neither enabled or disabled, etc.? It only cares about the Chrome Close Lock tab, what you do in your other tabs is your own business not ours. I encourage you to do your own research and the reply back here with your findings. EDIT: It's been over 7 months now, I guess Chris couldn't find anything malicious after all.

Very helpful extension. But I enjoyed the kitten pictures. If embedding the pictures increased the size too much, how about adding an option to display the user's own pictures from a particular directory?

Hello dev, could you please bring back the option to enable locking each window by default? In the new version, I would have to manually activate the close window protection feature. I miss the days when all new browser windows are automatically protected the moment they're first created. I'm a lazy set-and-forget kind of person😂 I'm used to the days when the pinned protection tab doesn't kick in, I can click the extension button to lauch the dedicated pinned tab and thus activating protect... A solution that helps prevent me from accidentally closing Chrome. I do agree with the other reviews that the visuals are very weird. Please make a basic theme that is just a blank page. There's no need for themes.

Perhaps if I had kept this installed for more than 30 seconds, I'd have gotten used to a weird permanent tab with a monster face on it. Please someone implement this functionality in a straightforward day.

I'm glad you found that the extension is helpful! If you think of any ways to make it even better, just let me know. I want to make it easy to use and be error free. Check out version 2.0, themes and visuals have been removed, and several bug fixes have been implemented! Would be good if it was more customisable. At the moment it's truly the ugliest app in the Chrome Store. Works well enough if you can stand the ugliness though.
