It doesn't even detect grammar and instead gives an error saying that the text should be written in English and that I have to pay for correcting the text.

The free version only works with English as language - both spell and grammar check. You can try out in English to test the functionality and the extension. Happy to help if you are facing issues. I love that I can use my own API key for the AI grammar checks, it's way more private
