Recently, the viewer position settings keep resetting. I always turn off all other options and only use 'center', but the center option keeps getting unchecked and the other options get selected instead.

Hi, thank you for your feedback. Please check if you have any other extensions that manage downloads, as they may override the final filename. If that’s not the case, feel free to reach out again—you can also report issues via emails or on GitHub. Cheers!

I was using Imagus before: Imagus did also display videos (gif, mp4, ...) for easy download. This one doesnt - up to now

Thank you for your feedback. PhotoShow works for gif but not videos at the moment, which is on the roadmap though.

Idk what kind of black magic imagus does, but it would always find the highest res version of what i'm hovering over, not just the thumbnail. it's really useful for that. (it appears hover zoom does this too) this just seems to pull from whatever thumbnail i'm hovering over, which ends up often being the same size of what i can already see. any chance you could replicate that feature? because it's probably the most important aspect of an addon like this to me

Thank you for your feedback. For clarity: PhotoShow never just repeats the same thumbnail image. The viewer will not appear at all if the detected image isn’t at least 20% bigger than its thumbnail. On most sites, PhotoShow efficiently identifies and displays the highest resolution image available. Some websites, however, might need additional tailoring. If you have specific examples where this doesn’t seem to work, feel free to share the links (here, via email, or on GitHub) and I’ll be glad to look into it. Cheers!

Needs a right click and zoom with scroll wheel option like Imagus. Should've used Imagus as the template for your extension. Please consider adding those options. How do I save an image?

Hi, thank you for your feedback. PhotoShow is designed to provide a quick “fast-in–fast-out” experience, so it currently doesn’t offer a view mode that keeps enlarged images on screen. However, this feature is already on the roadmap and will be added in the future. To save high-definition images, you can press the “S” key while hovering over image thumbnails or links, or use PhotoShow’s context menu options. You can also customize download locations and filenames, along with many other settings, in PhotoShow’s extension options page—to make PhotoShow your own.

As many have said, this is a great replacement for Imagus. Not perfect, but greatly appreciated. Some fixes/features I would really like to request: - When saving an image, it always defaults to the "Saved Pictures" folder instead of remembering the location of the previous save which can be really annoying when saving a lot of reference images. - Being able to use 'Ctrl' to trigger the image view but then being able to release it without the viewer closing. - Ability to right-click the HD ... Thank you very much for your valuable feedback! Regarding the features you mentioned: 1. You can specify custom sub-directories with filename patterns under PhotoShow's Options page, Please find it in the "Image Saving" section. However, please note that the custom download location will always be relative to your browser’s default download directory, as extensions are restricted from accessing other locations for security reasons. If this still doesn’t work after you’ve set it up, please also check whether another extension might be handling file downloads, as that can sometimes override PhotoShow’s settings. 2. PhotoShow is designed for a quick “view-and-go” experience, so it currently doesn’t include a view mode that keeps enlarged images on screen. A mode like this has been considered and may be added in the future. 3. You can access PhotoShow’s context menu items for actions such as opening an image in a new tab or copying it or its address. 4. There’s also an option on the Options page to control whether newly opened image tabs should open in the background or foreground. 5. A free-zooming feature is also under consideration for future versions. Thanks again for your thoughtful suggestions! If you have any trouble finding the Options page or run into any other issues with PhotoShow, feel free to reach out by email — my contact is available on the store listing page, as well as in PhotoShow’s popup window when you click its toolbar icon.

Hi, thank you for your feedback! 1. If copying images via the shortcut "Alt + C" does not work in certain browsers for you, try using the context menu option instead. 2. The Alt, Control, and Shift keys are reserved for “Viewer Trigger” functions, which are used to activate the image viewer, and therefore cannot be assigned to other actions. Custom shortcut settings will be available in future updates — stay tuned!

This application does everything I need it to do which is opening a zoomed in pop-up of an image I'm hovering over. I also appreciate that there is an option to display information about the source image on the hovering image preview. For the info display, can the size of the text and the color of the background for the info display be changed or customzied?

Thanks for your review! A major update is planned for PhotoShow, including changes to how image details are displayed. Until then, advanced features like customizing the styling of that section may not be prioritized. That said, suggestions are always welcome—feel free to share your ideas on how it should look or function, especially if it helps improve accessibility or the overall experience. Email feedback is also appreciated. Cheers! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edit on 12 Aug 2025: The appearance of the image viewer and image info banner has been improved in update 4.73.0 for better readability. On properly developed sites, the image info text now respects your browser’s default font size. PhotoShow’s global settings now also allow choosing the display position of the image info. Enjoy!
