Quickly compose an email, open your inbox, or search for email using the Gmail app widget on your iPhone or iPad.
Add the Gmail app widget to your home screen
Important:This feature is only available for iPhones and iPads with iOS 14 and up.
Follow the instructions below to add a Gmail app widget on your device's home screen. To add a widget to multiple accounts, follow the instructions on how to switch accounts.
If you recently installed the Gmail app, you may need to open the app before the widget appears in the widget gallery.
To add the Gmail app widget:
- On your iPhone or iPad, touch and hold the home screen.
- In the top left, tap Add
.
- Tap the Gmail app.
- Tap Add Widget.
- Place the widget on your home screen.
- Tap Done.
Switch accounts
- On your iPhone or iPad, touch and hold the Gmail app widget.
- Tap Edit Switch account.
- Select the account you want to use.
Add & configure your lock screen widget
Important:
- This feature is only available for iOS 16 and up
- To use this feature, you must have the Gmail app installed on your iOS device.
- On your lock screen, tap and hold the clock.
- At the bottom, tap Customize.
- To add customization, tap the lock screen.
- Tap Add widgets.
- In the widget gallery, find the widget you want to add.
- Tap the widget or drag it to the widget bar under the clock.
- In the widget bar, tap the widget you want to configure.
- Select your preferred configuration.
- Tap Done Set as Wallpaper Pair.
- To end customization, tap the lock screen.
Configure an existing lock screen widget
- On your lock screen, tap and hold the clock.
- At the bottom, tap Customize.
- To add customization, tap the lock screen.
- In the widget bar, tap an existing widget twice.
- Select your preferred configuration.
- Tap Done Set as Wallpaper Pair.
- To end customization, tap the lock screen.
