Devices that are Play Protect certified:
- Include proprietary apps under license from Google.
- Have passed Android compatibility testing.
Only Play Protect certified devices are eligible to include Google apps, like the Google Play Store app. If your device isn't Play Protect certified, Google doesn’t have a record of the device’s Android compatibility test results.
Tips:- Devices that aren't Play Protect certified may not be secure.
- Devices that aren't Play Protect certified may not get Android system updates or app updates.
- Google apps on devices that aren't Play Protect certified aren't licensed and aren't real Google apps.
- Apps and features on devices without Play Protect certification may not work correctly.
- Data on devices without Play Protect certification may not have a secure backup.
Verify your device certification status
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- At the top right, tap the profile icon.
- Tap Settings.
- To check if your device is Play Protect certified, tap About.
If your device is certified and you received an alert that it’s not, you can send feedback to help us review the alert.
- On your device, open the Settings app

- Tap your Profile picture.
- At the bottom, tap Give feedback.
- Enter details about what happened.
- If your issue is with an app:Include the name of the app that you used when you received the error and add the hashtag #appissue.
- If your issue is device related: Include the type of device that you used when you received the error and add the hashtag #deviceintegrity.
- For more information on the error, tap System logs.
- Tap Send.
Check if your device is on the list of certified devices .
If it’s not listed:Your device isn’t Play Protect certified.
If it’s listed:To trigger the Play Protect certification check, tap Fix device issue. If this doesn’t completely fix the problem, here are some steps you can take based on the information provided.
Turn on Google Play services for your device:
- Open the Settings app
.
- Tap your profile All services.
- Under "Privacy & Security," tap System services Google Play services Download.
Lock bootloader to fix issue
Your device failed Play Protect certification checks because its bootloader is unlocked. To improve the device security state, you need to lock the bootloader.
To lock your device’s bootloader, follow the instructions your device manufacturer provided .
Reset device to fix issue
Your device may be rooted or modified to run a custom Android OS.
We recommend that you try each of these steps. After each step, check if the problem is resolved. If not, continue to the next step.
- If your device is rooted, unroot it.
- Check and update your Android version .
- Perform a factory reset .
- Restore your device to its factory state.
- You must flash the original, manufacturer-signed Android build that came pre-installed on your device.
- For device-specific instructions, we recommend that you check your manufacturer’s support site .
We recommend checking for and installing the latest system updates for your device
System updates, like Android OS and security updates, often fix device issues. While this isn’t a guaranteed fix, it’s likely to help fix your issue.
There was an issue found with your device
Your device failed Play Protect certification checks. The most common reasons are:
- Unlocked bootloader
- Modded Android OS
- Rooted device
To lock your bootloader or flash a system image, refer to the instructions above the rows of this table.
Tip:If your device is certified but fails the fix steps, contact your device manufacturer for a Play Protect-certified device.
