Import a Slides presentation into Google Vids with Gemini

You can use a presentation in Google Slides to create scenes for a new or existing video in Google Vids. Each slide becomes a new scene. You can review, edit, or delete scenes. You can also use Gemini in Vids to generate scripts, AI voiceovers, apply background music, and add animations for your imported slides. Before the video is fully generated, you can edit it to match what you want.

1. On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides or a video in Google Vids .
   • In Slides:Click FileConvert to Video.
   • In Vids:
     • For a new video:
       1. In the start menu, select the aspect ratio of your Vid: Landscape.
       2. Click Convert Slidesa presentation from Google Drive Select.
     • For an existing video:
       1. Click FileConvert Slidesa presentation from Google Drive.
       2. Click Select.
2. Select the slides you want to import.
3. Optional: If you don't need Gemini to generate scripts, animation, and voiceovers, or apply background music, turn off Include AI voiceover, script, background music and animation.
4. Click Next.
5. Optional: Edit scripts generated for each scene.
   • To use your own notes:Click Replace with speaker notes. This overwrites the generated script.
     • To use the generated script:Click Revert to generated script.
   • To remove the script:Hover over the script. Then, click Clear script.
   • To edit the script language:Click the script you want to edit and type in your edits.
6. Optional: To change the voice used for the voiceover:
   1. In the "AI Voiceovers" card, click Edit.
   2. Select a voice from the menu.
   3. Click Use this voiceover.
7. Click Create the draft video.
   • Once you generate the video, you can continue to edit the script, update the voiceover, and refine your video in the Scripts panel.

Tips:

• Scene length automatically matches the length of the generated voiceover. If you don't generate voiceovers for your scenes, the default length is 5 seconds.
• You can generate the script from the content of your presentation, which includes the speaker notes.
• If you want to select more than 45 slides, turn off Include AI voiceover, script, background music and animation.

Import a Slides presentation into Google Vids

You can use a presentation in Google Slides to create scenes for a new or existing video in Google Vids.

1. On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides or a video in Google Vids .
   • In Slides:Click FileConvert to Video.
   • In Vids:
     • For a new video:
       1. In the start menu, select the aspect ratio of your Vid: Landscape.
       2. Click Convert Slidesa presentation from Google Drive Select.
     • For an existing video:
       1. Click FileConvert Slidesa presentation from Google Drive.
       2. Click Select.
2. Select the slides you want to import.
   • By default, Vids will select as many slides as are eligible for import, up to 100 slides.
3. Click Import.
4. Find your scenes in your video:
   • Each slide you selected becomes a new scene.
   • Scene length is automatically set to 5 seconds.
5. Optional:You can edit the new script and update the voiceover in the Scriptspanel.

Learn more about import limits

• You can generate videos with a 10-minute limit.
• If your video contains audio tracks already, your import limit might be lower than 45. The import window will show a message: “Select [X] or fewer slides to import”, to let you know the exact limit.
  • You can only have 50 audio objects in a video.
• If “Convert Slides” is grayed out in the File menu, the video file is too large to import slides at that time. You'll only be able to use this feature when you make your video shorter.
• You can’t import word art and video files from your slides into your video.
• If you import content that makes your video longer than 10 minutes, a warning bar will appear at the top of your screen. You’ll need to shorten your video.
• By default, Vids will select as many slides as are eligible for import. This means up to 45 slides per video if you use the AI functionality, and up to 100 slides if you don’t use the AI functionality.
