Fully reset your trade-in device for maximum value
To ship your trade-in device, use the prepaid trade-in kit sent to you and follow the detailed instructions included in the kit.
- Prepare your old device:
- Transfer data from your old device to your new one.
- Remove activation locks from the device.
- Factory reset the device. Do not reset through the Recovery menu or when you use your device’s buttons.
- Learn how to reset your Pixel phone to factory settings .
- Learn how to reset your Pixel tablet to factory settings .
- Learn how to reset your iPhone or iPad to factory settings .
- Learn how to reset other Android devices to factory settings .
- Learn how to reset your Apple Watch .
- Learn how to reset your Samsung Watch .
- Learn how to reset your Fitbit .
- Erase any downloaded SIMs or remove any SIM and memory cards.
- Power off the device.
- Pack your device in the prepaid trade-in kit.
- Remove watch bands for any smartwatches.
- If you have multiple trade-in kits, match the Trade-in ID on your kit with the Trade-in ID in your Order History.
- To find your Trade-in ID:
- Go to Order History .
- Select View or edit order .
- Review Trade-in details .
- Attach the shipping label.
- Ship the device through UPS. Find UPS dropoff locations near you

- If you don't want to continue with your trade-in, throw the trade-in kit away.
- Once you send in your device, you can't cancel the trade-in process.
- Do not send in devices with damaged or swollen batteries. These won’t receive any credit and can’t be returned.
- Your trade-in transaction expires at the end of 6 months from the date of purchase of your new Google device.
