Cultivating growth in
our data center communities
Workforce development
As a responsible neighbor, we are partnering with, and investing in, our data center communities to provide sustained support through workforce development, educational opportunities, and other beneficial initiatives. With inclusive access to AI and digital opportunities, we can better prepare communities to thrive for generations.
Google is proud to operate multiple data centers in Northern Virginia — a global hub of the digital economy — and to support community organizations there that are enabling people and changing lives. We've collaborated with two inspiring local organizations in the region, Global Inheritance and Mobile Hope, to introduce more young women to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and to combat youth homelessness.
In Hamina, Finland, where Google has a data center, we are working with city-owned energy provider Haminan Energia to kick off our first offsite heat recovery project to reduce our environmental footprint, as well as help warm homes and businesses in this historic port city.
Expanding access
Each day, we build for a tomorrow where everyone can benefit. We strengthen community connections by investing in local initiatives like sustainability programs for young children. We enhance digital integration with projects like rural internet connectivity. And we spark economic opportunities by providing high-paying jobs through our infrastructure projects.
Building toward a more
sustainable future
We harness technology to spur positive environmental change
We aspire to build the most efficient computing systems, while caring for water resources and making energy grids strong. We work with communities to ensure we responsibly power the products and services our communities rely on.
The Rødby Fjord solar project adds clean energy to the grid that powers our data center in Fredericia, Denmark.
