Wow. They do good work, don’t they?

And in the universe of HMS Iolanthe, Earth is kept off-limits to almost everyone. Humanity lives on other planets or in space. There are a few thousand people who get to live on Earth, but for the most part it’s left to “grow back.”  So you can imagine the value of even one crate of real soil.
Wonder how much more they’ll have to pay? Sounds like our Eleanor didn’t get along with at least one of the crewmembers. Wonder which one?
And a big thank you to my 1948 Roget’s Thesaurus for helping with Eleanor’s dialogue. Every home should have one.
UPDATE: As you can see, there’s not a new comic this week. I’m away from my regular computer, enjoying the sun and fun of sunny California for a few days.
But never fear-Monday’s strip is going to touch base with two of your favorite characters! And introduce a mysterious third one. I can say no more.
Well, yes, I can: Have a swell week!

Enjoy the sun, Charlie. You’ve earned it.

Well, they had to pick Eleanor up anyway, so, two birds, etc.
Plus, you can see what happens when Eleanor feels that she’s been kept waiting.
Also, when getting favors-even paid ones-it’s best to limit one’s number of visits. They don’t want the crew of the Iolanthe to think they’re taking advantage of them.

Wow, so they brought her right there huh. No time like the present to get sober, right. I’ve got a feeling this won’t work out exactly as planned.

Indeed. Truly beauteous. Some might say handsome, pretty, lovely, graceful, elegant; delicate, dainty, refined, exquisite; fair, personable, comely, seemly; bonny; or good-looking.
It was indeed well-favoured, well-made, well-formed, well-proportioned; proper, shapely, symmetrical and harmonious.

You did know the thesaurus was the most beautiful of the dinosaurs right?

Ah, but you, my friend, are a poet. Words are your livelihood, your raison d’etre, your raison brand, if you will, while I am old and befuddled. True, I knew and used all these words in my youth, but nowadays I find myself relying more and more on my dictionaries and thesaurus to…to…what were we talking about again?

Why would you need a thesaurus for such simple dialog? I admit it has been a while since I used dipsomaniacal to refer to an alcoholic, but none of those words was outside my vocabulary. Even the limited vocabulary I retained after getting brain damaged by getting hit by a truck.
