HEIR TODAY, PAWN TOMORROW
By:

Ah now, that’s the Eleanor we all know and love.

Scheme, scheme, scheme. Well, next week we’ll see what happens when we (and Eleanor) catch Anya at work! Stick around!

Eleanor showing her true colors… Or is she?

Well, her parents were kind of okay with it at first. She’s off in America, you know, so there’s not much they can do. One of the reasons they wanted her to go to America was that she could learn about democracy and stuff.
But now that it’s beginning to look serious, they have to step in. Fun’s fun, but this is monarchical succession we’re talking about.

Aren’t the Chuckleslovakians a bit more traditional about such things?

Is this her angle, or is it just frosting on the Elenaor/Anya cake?
Remember, she really does love Anya, in her own Eleanor way. And hearing that her lover/slave is really a queen is quite a shock.
Now that the shock is over, she’s just looking at the opportunities…

Thanks MJ! I had next week’s strip finished, and then realized that I hadn’t explained any of the plan, or at least the reason for the plan.
It’s fun to go inside my character’s heads. Comics are such a flexible medium. They let me get away with just about anything.

Just when I think your characterizations can’t get any more perfect, you whip out a page like this! I’m loving the visual imagery on this page. You’ve really nailed it.
