Here, vintage portraits of gay love and pride from the book The Invisibles ( Rizzoli ), compiled by Sébastien Lifshitz.

The French screenwriter and director discovered a photo album that belonged to two elderly women, whom it didn’t take long to realize were in a lifelong and loving relationship.

Inspired, Lifshitz launched The Invisibles Project, interviews with gay women and men born between the two World Wars. These are the photos that emerged.
