Following his hilarious recreations of iconic photos , John Malkovich goes a step further in a new project in which he portrays David Lynch’s most peculiar characters in a series of short videos. He plays Twin Peaks detective Dale Cooper and the Log Lady, Blue Velvet’s Frank Booth, The Elephant Man’s John Merrick, Eraserhead’s Henry Spencer and the Lady in the Radiator, Lost Highway’s Mystery Man, as well as David Lynch himself.

The project, Playing Lynch , raises money for the David Lynch Foundation, which aims to teach transcendental meditation to sufferers of traumatic stress. A new video will be made available every day for a week, downloadable for a small donation.

Each scene, directed by Malkovich collaborator Sandro Miller, features original music by an artist interpreting a previous Lynchian soundtrack. The Twin Peaks videos are scored by composer Angelo Badalamenti, Lost Highway by Lykke Li. Sky Ferreira sings the Blue Velvet scene; while Zola Jesus croons in the Lady in the Radiator.
