Posted by anony: My question: Does restraining from all forms of sex (including masturbation)cause impotence? I have noticed that prolonged periods of sexual restraint can cause ED but normal performance functioning comes back after a couple of times of masturbating. Will it always come back? Will it weaken mysexual performanceand erection endurance once I'm married?
More specific info below: When I was younger I used to beobsessed with masterbating, and I didn't like the person it made me so I stopped. After almost completely restraining for about 2 years I found that I couldn't keep an erection long enough to climax. After masterbating more I eventually felt almost normal again. Is this a dangerous thing to do for a guy? if I don't use it, could I lose it?

Reply by:Dee I am not a guy first off. But I do know that when a man has not had sexual gratification for a long time his endurance time goes way down. I don't think this is impotency at all. Just a normal thing.
How old are you anyways? Sounds to me like you need to get out a little more or find something you enjoy doing to take your mind off this.
And please don't over whelm yourself and start taking any kind of drug to overcome this.

My first thought when I read your post was that the reason you had trouble holding an erection is because you feel guilty for eithermasturbatingor having sexual relations.
You mentioned that you stopped masturbating because you didn't like the sort of person it made you. I'm a little confused by this statement as in my books unless masturbation severly effects your lifestyle then it is a perfectly normal healthy thing for a guy to do.
I don't think my impotence was caused by guiltanony I don't think my impotence was caused by guilt. It returned to normal after a about 3 or 4 times of masturbating but my guilt never went away. I have felt a lot more guilty than that time and still been able to perform well, it was just when i went a long peroid of time restraining that i had trouble.
