Most problems in Washington caused by carpenter ants are due to Camponotus modoc and C. vicinus. Here we have a winged reproductive carpenter ant or alate.


Avoid planting vegetation, particularly evergreens, where they will come in contact with the home. Vegetation that touches the house should be pruned to prevent a foraging area for the colony or easy access to the home.
