Well, it’s not really a snapshot. It’s more of a none step by step tutorial.
I saw this killer pumpkin on everyone’s favorite time sink (the same reason this post went from 5 minutes to 35 minutes…)
Ok, back to the pumpkin.
DIY: Lace Pumpkin
Get yourself
- A pumpkin (I got one of those insanely over priced fake ones from the craft store – never again)
- 1/2 yard lace (this was way to much for my size pumpkin, but its an awkward shape and I am not down with exact measurements outside of baking – and sometimes not when I’m baking either)
- Spray adhesive
- Old newspaper (so that you can have a solid alibi when your boyfriend wants to know why the beautiful large dining room table is sticky on one corner – but you haaad paper down)
- Fabric scissors – kitchen scissors simply do not cut through lace well – don’t worry, I went ahead and tested that theory out for you just in case.
For the burgundy damask print, I realized just how DIY I am not. So, I got out my sewing pins and tacked all of the fabric at the bottom. There are no small children running around my house so I think it’s safe for the most part. 😉
Here’s to trying – next time I am just going to stick to cooking and random snap shots.
Hmmm…great idea and yours turned out looking good. I love the burgundy one. I think this would be a challenging project for me—I would have adhesive everywhere! 🙂
So spooky and fun! Way to get your craft on girl!
I love this! What clever Fall decor. I’d say the overpriced pumpkin was worth it 🙂
What a GREAT idea! I would have never thought of that…
Pretty and different 🙂
LOVE them Kita! Such a great idea since I’m so clumsy when it comes to pumpkin carving! Love the burgundy one!
I really like the look of the lace over the pumpkin. I try to stay away from Pinterest. I just don’t have the time I know it would steal from my day 😉
I have spent more time that I care to admit being sucked into the awesome things ppl post – though I do try to limit myself.
These are adorable. I wonder if you could paint real pumpkins and then put lace over them. These would be perfect for my Halloween party!
I considered it – spray paint seemed so easy (and much cheaper than the fake pumpkins) but I figured if I was going to bother I would at least have one that may last a few seasons. I say go for real pumpkins! I just lack a serious level of crafting patience. I knew I wouldn’t be able to pull this one off twice. 😉
Okay, so I’ve been looking around your blog and decided that I just had to ‘follow’ you 🙂 Looking forward to catching up on old posts and catching some new ones!
Thanks for taking a minute to look around. Im glad I was able to lure you into becoming a follower 😉

Tasty Appetite
Oooh, so cute yet sophisticated! I am totally with you on hating to measure anything outside the kitchen, but these turned out great for you anyway!
