"Your best?! Losers always whine on about doing there best.
Winners go home and fuck the prom queen." Sean Connery from 'The Rock'

Indeed.
Another tick in the lost column, but not all bad news for Sala. However with more plucky defeats than a Scottish World Cup campaign, Sala's league form of late has been nothing but iffy.
This time their was action galore, as Sala tried to gain revenge over a Hibs team that had unceremoniously dumped them from the cup last week.

It started well for Sala who looked confident and composed in possesion and allowed Hibs little chance to threaten in the opening half hour.
Guido playing in front of the back four and Shigeru ahead of him saw a lot of possesion and kept the ball moving forward for Sala. Most of the Action came down the right flank and was consistently provided by Toby and Giles who seem to work well in the tight spaces down the line.
Tobys movement off the ball, caused the Hibs defence a lot of trouble, and he set up the first chance for Sala, when after sprinting down the touchline, he beat his man and squared to Charles, whose shot was blocked before it left his boot.

But this combination worked again a few minutes later when Tobys through ball from wide on the right, found Charles in acres of room to chip the keeper and score. Unfortunately the representative of 'Megane-Supa' who was masquerading as a Hibenese linesman saw (or rather didn't) an offside infringement and the goal was annulled.

From then on Hibs woke up a bit and certainly put themselves to work. They had numerous chances towards the end of the first half, but a united effort from the Sala defence kept them at bay. So many shots were blocked in one stramash that I cant remember who to credit, but needless to say Harlow, Guido and big Steve were all involved. Half time 0v0.

The second half started poorly for Sala when Hibs scored a controversial goal.
In a midfield jostle for a header, Clarkey went down after a sickening noise was heard across the park. He didn't get up. There and then the ball should have been put out, or even better, the referee should have stopped the game. But with several Sala players stopped screaming at the referee and Clarkey bleeding all over the place, the ref allowed the sporting Hibs to stroll up the park and score. Claims that 'You cant stop a sweeping attack like that for an injury' are absolute mince. For a start the incident happened a long way back from any 'sweeping' of anything.

Anyway you can, and should (it being the rules) stop the game immediately incase of a head knock. Having pulled a friends tongue out of their throat (with my hand!) during a Uni football game, the reasons for this are only too obvious to this writer.
I can't even describe their goal (and im not just being a dick) because I didn't see it. Clarkey soldiered on a la Terry Butcher, and was thankfully none the worse for wear. Still, the ref was right not to change his mind, as it would have just started a riot in all likelihoods.

The wind went out of the Sala sails after that. They kept pushing forward and playing football. Shigeru and Toby both had shots well saved by the keeper, and Steve got up well to nod a corner just over the bar, but it was Hibs who did the damage.

The warning signs were there when everyones favourite Ozzie, scooped a shot over when it would have been easier to score, but he redeemed himself moments later with a great strike from the edge of the box into the roof of the net. Game over.

Sala played some decent football and coped well with a skillful Hibs team, despite having limited resources, i.e. only 11 players etc. In the end the best team one, but in the true manner of Scottish defeats, the list of "If onlys" grows ever longer.

Lets fuck that prom queen next week.
