経歴について彼のHPからの抜粋です。 Daniel Barenboim was born in Buenos Aires in 1942 as a Jewish Russian descent. His family moved to Israel in 1952. He made his debut as a pianist in Vienna and Rome in 1952. From then, he made annual concert tours of the United States and Europe. He made his recordings the most important works in the piano repertory, including complete cycles of the piano sonatas of Mozart and Beethoven and concertos by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms and Bartok. During the same period, he devoted more time to conducting. He made tours with the English Chamber Orchestra all over the world, from 1965, lasted over a decade. He was assigned as a conductor with the New Philharmonia Orchestra in London in 1967. He made his opera conducting debut in 1973 in Edinburgh, UK. He made his Bayreuth debut in 1981. In 1991 he succeeded Sir Georg Solti as Music Director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In 1992 he became General Music Director of the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin. He has also had a long and distinguished association with the Berlin Philharmonic and maintains a close relationship as well with the Vienna Philharmonic.
