皆さんはどのようにして英単語を覚えるようにしていますか？
私は、「知らない英単語はない！」と豪語しています。
豪語していると、不思議なことに、どんな英単語も簡単に覚えてしまいます。
今日は、私が出会った単語の中から、英米の知識人に一目置かれるような「知的な英単語」を選んで紹介します。
【今日の単語】
６月４日の英単語は、「egocentric」。
（例）Babies are entirely egocentric , concerned only with when they will next be fed.

【前回の単語】
ところで、６月１日の「jingoism」（Patriotism can turn into jingoism and intolerance very quickly.）
いかがでしたか？
jingoismの意味は、好戦的愛国主義、対外強硬主義、
the extreme belief that your own country is always best, which is often shown in enthusiastic support for a war against another country、
Extreme nationalism characterized especially by a belligerent（好戦的な） foreign policy、
chauvinistic（狂信的優越主義者の）patriotism、
という意味です。

牛乳で双子が生まれる？
Dr. Gary Steinman, an obstetrician specializing in multiple births, compared twin birth rates among women who ate a regular diet, vegetarians who ate dairy products, and vegans（(動物質食品を食べない)菜食主義者）.
He found that the vegans had twins at 1/5 the rate of milk-drinking women.
Steinman said insulin-like growth factor (IGF), which is found in milk, may be responsible for the pattern.
IGF increases the sensitivity of the ovaries（卵巣） to follicle（卵胞） stimulating hormone, thus increasing ovulation（排卵）.
