Renoir's paintings, of which there are several thousand, are notable for their saturated(濃い)color, vibrant(明るい)light, and warm sensuality(官能性). Early in his career, Renoir developed a close relationship with Claude Monet and became a celebrated artist of the Impressionist style. At times the two painters worked side-by-side, creating several pairs of paintings that depict the same scenes. Though crippled(手足が不自由)with rheumatoid arthritis(関節炎)in his later life, Renoir continued to paint.
