コールド・ブラッドは商業的には成功しなかったものの、タワー・オブ・パワーと並んで“ベイ・エリア・ファンク"の代表的グループといってい
いだろう。キレのいいホーン・セクションとファンク・ロックな演奏に乗って紅一点のヴォーカル、リディア・ペンスがジャニス・ジョプリンばり
に全体を引っぱっていく--。72年の3rdアルバム「ファースト・テイスト・オブ・シン」は、プロデュースにあのダニー・ハザウェイを迎え、ゲス
トのコーク&ピート・エスコヴェード兄弟(シーラ・Eの叔父)のパーカッションをフィーチャーしたラテン風味のファンクを繰り広げる傑作となっ
た。その後3枚のアルバムを発表し、76年にバンドは解散。嗚呼リディアは今何処へ……。
