もう一つストライキをやっているのがハリウッドの映画産業である。今アメリカでは映画よりもビデオが利益が大きくて、映画のライターや俳優の仕事が少なくなっているという。またAIが特にライターの雇用を減らすだろうと予想されることもストライキの議題になっている。この二つのストライキは時代の変遷を表すもので、日本でもやがて起こることを覚悟しなければならない。
US autoworker union is on a strike. President Biden joined its demonstration. The former president Trump is also coming to support the union. I learned from this news how much political influence US auto worker union has, The union demands wage increase, day off and cost of living adjustments. It is also an agenda that companies' main production is shifting to electric vehicles(EV). Engine of EV is simpler and need less labor force. Meanwhile the companies face the competition from Toyota and Tesler which have not unionized workforces and enjoy lower labor cost.
Hollywood filmmakers' workers are also on a strike. Film making is now less profitable than producing videos, so film writers and actors fear that they will lose their jobs. AI is another issue for this labor dispute. Particularly writers are threatened by growing influence of AI on their job.
These two strikes represent the changing times. We must be prepared for something similar to happen soon in Japan.
