There is a fear that these leading-edge mega-models will take over jobs, with screams about “AGI” and “Super-Intelligence” being what is required to replace the knowledge workers of today and to automate office and business tasks.
最先端の巨大モデルが仕事を奪うのではないかという恐れがあり、今日のナレッジワーカーを置き換え、オフィスやビジネス業務を自動化するには「AGI」や「超知能」が必要だという叫びが上がっている。

Graphs abound that talk about “AGI” and “PhD level intelligence”, but how many jobs actually require that?
「AGI」や「博士号レベルの知能」を示すグラフは溢れているが、実際にそんな知能を必要とする仕事がどれほどあるだろうか？

What if your job can be automated away by a desktop-based AI? The AI equivalent of an Excel macro?
もしあなたの仕事が、デスクトップ上で動く AI によって自動化できるとしたらどうだろうか。 Excel マクロの AI 版のようなものによってだが。

It might sound far-fetched, but I think for a lot of work we are already at ‘peak model’ and with the rate of improvement on models, and the ability of a desktop hosted model to do that work is increasing.
突飛に聞こえるかもしれないが、多くの仕事に関してはすでに「モデルのピーク」に達しており、モデルの改善速度とデスクトップ上のモデルがその仕事をこなす能力はますます高まっていると私は思う。

If I need a full enterprise solution to do the work today, something with cloud providers, something where I need to worry about token costs or that requires me to get my IT department involved then there is a fairly big barrier to entry.

The first spreadsheet, VisiCalc, in 1979 changed finance and accounting, and over the next few years competitors, Lotus 1–2–3 and then Excel, added “macros” and desktop programming by business people was born, the entire “mini-computer” industry was killed by the rise of spreadsheets, and it was spreadsheets that drove business adoption of PCs.
1979年に登場した最初のスプレッドシートである VisiCalc は、財務と会計を変革した。その後数年で、競合の Lotus 1-2-3、そして Excel が「マクロ」を追加し、ビジネスパーソンによるデスクトップ・プログラミングが誕生した。スプレッドシートの台頭によって「ミニコンピュータ」産業は完全に壊滅し、PC をビジネスに普及させたのもスプレッドシートだった。

In my first “corporate” job we were a Unix shop, but the managers still had PCs just for the spreadsheets.

Were spreadsheets the ‘best and most advanced’ technology? Not even close, but what they were was usable and local, this is the bar for the Agentic Macro.
