Garlic has been used for hundreds of years as a blood tonic. There has recently been controversy over feeding dogs garlic. Too much can cause a disease called hemolytic anemia. An excessive amount of, means that fifty cloves at one time - that's an excessive amount of for anyone! Conservative use of 1 or 2 cloves per 50lb dog some times a week has thus many benefits. Now even the AAFCO (American Association of Feed Control Officials) recognizes garlic as safe. The AAFCO is accountable for monitoring the safety of animal feed merchandise and gathers information from skilled toxicologists from everywhere the United States.
