What I learned in Toronto

このページでは、僕が留学後に書いた報告書を載せています。
全て英語で書いてありますが、比較的簡単な文なので和訳はいらないと思いますが・・・。

It was the first time to go abroad in my life, so I was very excited.
I couldn’t imagine at all what would happen to me.
I had many great experiences in Toronto!!
For example, Sightseeing(Niagara Fall CN Tower, Sky Dome, Toronto Island, etc), Dance Party, Santa Clause Parade, Concert, and so on.
But Toronto has great nature and a lot of very old buildings and museums (Casa Loma, Royal Ontario Museum, Art Gallery of Ontario, etc).
Of course it also has new buildings.
But nature and old buildings are so beautiful.
I can’t see it in Japan.
I was able to see, hear and experience various things and I was able to study English.
This is one of my great memories in my life.
I am sure that I can’t experience these things in Japan.
I studied many things about Canada and Toronto.
Of course, my teacher used English.
When my class started, I couldn’t understand any of them.
My English was so young, like a baby.
When I went back home in Canada, I couldn’t understand the conversation between host mother and host brother.
So everyday I studied very hard.
After one month of staying there, gradually I could understand what she spoke.
At the end of the term, I could almost understand their talking.
I didn’t feel that my English improved.
But many friends told me that my English better than before.
They confessed to me, at first, they didn’t understand my English.
My teacher told me so many things about Canada; history, geography, Inuit and so on.
It was history that I got most interested in.
The Indian’s history was one of the most impressive one.
They have so long history about independence.
But the history is so sad, because they suffered the persecution by the immigrant.
Now, they live anywhere in Canada as a cowboy.
Some people are continuing keeping the lifestyle from ancient times.
But the other people are changing their lifestyles to look like immigrants.
By studying history, I was able to know true Canada.
In my opinion, studying abroad grew me up.
This is the first step to stand on my own feet.
Before I went to Canada, I always depended on my parents, for example, the time on my getting up in the morning, preparation of a meal, etc, because life was so easy.
I wasn’t worried about everything; eating, living, and so on.
But if I continued the life, I couldn’t grow up as a person.
I think noticing this fact the most essential things for me.
In Toronto, I could make a lot of friends.
Friends are the most important things for me.
I can’t exchange them for everything.
They are so nice and friendly.
We had to speak English to communicate with each other, but we could understand each other.
I feel English is not only language but it is a tool for the person and the person to take communications.
So I decided to study English after I came back Japan.
When I arrived at Canada, I could understand my situation.
I was blessed very much.
Before I went to Canada, I didn’t think having a chance to learn is a privilege.
But this is in reality.
Some people threw up their jobs, and came to Toronto to study English.
Other people are working and studying English.
So I think my position is very good because I could concentrate on studying English.
It seemed that I was in a dream for three months and a half.
This passed period will not have the substitute which cannot be forgotten for me throughout life for about 20 years by leaving Japan, without seeing the face of my parents who were looking almost every morning.
The last day in Canada, many many friends wrote messages for me on a Canadian flag.
I was glad to read it.
Of course this flag is my treasure.
If I have a chance to go abroad again, I will study more and more!!
I will enjoy my life!!
I will grow up me!!
I hope so…

キャンプに引き続き、凄く長くなりました。
