I'm sure that they were trained at the Cirque du Soleil.
Anyway, our backyard birds don't like eating seeds from one particular bird feeder, so I had not added new seeds to this for long time.
So I was planning to clean this bird feeder and then move it from the deck yesterday.
I opened the cover and found some dogs’ hair.
Originally I spread the dogs’ hair out on the lawn, hoping that will keep deer away from getting too close to the house.
I was wondering how the dogs’ hair got into the closed bird feeder on the deck railing.
I tried to pick up the rock which I placed inside the feeder to add stability so it won’t fall over.
The squirrels usually knock the feeder down without a rock to make it heavy.
I wiggled the rock...
then, I saw a pair of big bright eyes stared at me. A cute mouse!!
I think most animals are cute or pretty.
(I love animals, and also I like eat meat. I am an animal lover.)
How come most people think hamster and squirrels are cute, but not mice?
It’s a tail. People don’t like long skinny tail.
Most people hate mice.
However, Mickey Mouse and Jerry (Tom and Jerry) are always people’s favorite cartoon characters; go figure.
Anyway, OUR mouse looked like the one came by to eat bird seed on the deck on winter nights.
I left the bird feeder without cover and went inside of the house to get a camera.
However, when I got back, she was still inside the feeder trying to hide under the rock.
After I took the picture of her, I moved the rock, so she can leave.
She didn’t leave...
She had her litter in the feeder. Mother’s love...
We are such nice people.
I took the feeder into the wood and left them under the oak leave pile, maybe it’s not too far enough from our house and we might have the problem in winter.
I hope they are Deer mice which stay outside of the house.
(I’m just wishing they don’t come in, but I know they come inside of house, too.)
我が家にはリス対策用の小鳥の餌箱が幾つかあります。
リス達は賢くて運動神経が抜群
(多分シルク・ドゥ・ソレイユで訓練を受けたリス達)なので
これらの餌箱の機能は効果なしです。
リス除けの餌箱は大きめの野鳥に不好評で
特にデックのレールに設置した餌箱は殆ど利用客がありません。
それなので私も餌足しをしていませんでした。
昨日は雨の合間にお日様が顔を出していたので
家中の植木鉢をデックに幾つか出すことにしました。
利用客ゼロの餌箱を移動しようと、蓋を開けたら犬達の毛が詰まっていました。
鹿が家に近づかないようにとカットした犬の毛を芝生に撒いておいたものが
何故に野鳥の餌箱に入っているのか？ミステリー！？
腕白なリスがレールに置いてある餌箱を引っくり返すので
重しに石を入れて置いたのですが
それがナカナカ取り出せない～。
何かに引っかかっているのかと前後に揺さぶっていたら、
箱の隅から可愛い目がジーと私を見つめているではないですか。
可愛い茶色のネズミ・・・
どうも冬の夜デックに餌箱から落ちた種を
食べにきていたネズミちゃんのようです。
鼠と書くと「きゃぁ～」と悲鳴を上げたくなりますが実物は可愛いのですよ。
私は殆どの動物が可愛いとか綺麗だとか思えてしまうのです。
動物が大好き・・・お肉も好き・・・動物大好き人間なのです。
殆どの人が嫌うネズミですが、
皆が可愛いと思うハムスターやリスとの違いは尻尾だけ。
あの細くて長い尻尾が嫌いなんでしょうね。
世間一般に嫌われているネズミ・・・
でもミッキーマウスやジェリー（トムとジェリー）は常に人気が有ります。
全くどう言う事でしょうかね？
さて、
私がカメラを取ってデックに戻ってきた時も
このネズミちゃんは逃げもせずに箱の中にいました。
(蓋を開けたままだったので私が戻るまでには逃げていると思っていたのに・・・)
写真を数枚とって、さて石をどけて逃がそうと思ったら・・・・
多分生後数日の赤ちゃん達がモゾモゾ動いているではないですか・・・
道理で親ネズミが箱から出てこなかったわけですね。
母親の愛・・・
どうも私達は食事付きの宿泊を提供していたのですね。
私達って何て良い人達なのでしょう。
箱ごと裏の林の中に持って行き、オークの落ち葉が積もっている所に
犬達の毛と共に置いてきました。
親ネズミは子ネズミを一匹を口に咥えて走り去りましたが
直ぐに戻ってくると思います。
もっと林の奥の方に置いてきたほうが良かったかな？
若しかして(絶対に)我が家に戻ってきますね。
鹿ネズミだったら屋外に住んで家の中に入ってこないらしいのですが・・・
(私でもこんな情報は当てにならないとは知っています。
お腹が空いたら家の中に入ってきますよね。)
Life is hard for insects. And don't think mice are having any fun either.
昆虫には生きていくということは困難だ。そしてネズミが生活を楽しんでいると思ってはいけないよ。
