I'm sure that they were trained at the Cirque du Soleil.
Anyway, our backyard birds don't like eating seeds from one particular bird feeder, so I had not added new seeds to this for long time. So I was planning to clean this bird feeder and then move it from the deck yesterday.
I opened the cover and found some dogs’ hair. Originally I spread the dogs’ hair out on the lawn, hoping that will keep deer away from getting too close to the house.
I was wondering how the dogs’ hair got into the closed bird feeder on the deck railing.
I tried to pick up the rock which I placed inside the feeder to add stability so it won’t fall over. The squirrels usually knock the feeder down without a rock to make it heavy.
I wiggled the rock... then, I saw a pair of big bright eyes stared at me. A cute mouse!! I think most animals are cute or pretty. (I love animals, and also I like eat meat. I am an animal lover.) How come most people think hamster and squirrels are cute, but not mice? It’s a tail. People don’t like long skinny tail. Most people hate mice. However, Mickey Mouse and Jerry (Tom and Jerry) are always people’s favorite cartoon characters; go figure.
Anyway, OUR mouse looked like the one came by to eat bird seed on the deck on winter nights.
I left the bird feeder without cover and went inside of the house to get a camera.
However, when I got back, she was still inside the feeder trying to hide under the rock. After I took the picture of her, I moved the rock, so she can leave. She didn’t leave... She had her litter in the feeder. Mother’s love...
We are such nice people.
I took the feeder into the wood and left them under the oak leave pile, maybe it’s not too far enough from our house and we might have the problem in winter. I hope they are Deer mice which stay outside of the house. (I’m just wishing they don’t come in, but I know they come inside of house, too.)
