Mr. Baseball 長嶋茂雄　Shigeo Nagashima

ちょっと成績がヤバくて、せっかく巨人入団が決まっていたのに、卒業が危ぶまれたらしい。
そのとき、立教大学野球部の監督が何とか長嶋さんを卒業させようと、
英語の先生に簡単なテストを作るように頼んだそうな。
寛大な英語の先生は初歩的な問題を出題したそう。
「"I live in Tokyo." この文を過去形にせよ。」
一生懸命考えて、考え抜いた挙句、長嶋さんの出した答えは…

"I live in Edo."

天才です。

That great Mr. Shigeo Nagashima was about to graduate from his university, St. Paul's University (Rikkyo).
But his scores weren't good enough and he was in danger even though he was determined to enter the Giants.
Then, the director of the baseball team of the university asked his English professor to let him take an easier exam
in order to graduate him, Mr. Nagashima.
And the generous professor gave him a very easy and basic exam.
"Change the form into the past tense. 'I live in Tokyo.'"
After he thought so hard, he answered like this below...

"I live in Edo."

Genius, he is.
