【Xperia1 VI】この買い替え、正しかったのか間違いだったのか？？　Did I Make the Right Call with This Upgrade—or a Huge Mistake?

さて、そんなわけで、新製品（Xperia1VII）の発売1か月半前という実にビミョーなタイミングで購入したXperia1VI（中古）だが、２か月使ってみて、基本的には満足している。買い替えてよかったと思う。ただ、いくつか気になること、残念なこともあるので、それらをまとめてみたい。

まず、うれしい驚きだったのがバッテリ容量の数値だ。Xperia1VIのバッテリ容量は50000uAh。要するに、この端末、中古にもかかわらず、バッテリが全く劣化していなかった。
店の人は長期在庫モデルだと言っていたが、前の所有者は（どういう事情かは知らないが）ほとんど使うことなく売却したようだ。今回は高価な買い物だったので、ネットでこれと見繕った候補数点について、実店舗を訪れ、現物をチェックした上で購入した。何点か見た中で、カラーは私の好みではなかったものの、この端末がもっとも状態がよさそうだった。実際、その手間の甲斐があった。
肝心のバッテリの持ちだが、「いたわり充電」でMAX80％で運用、平日は帰宅して50％以上残っていることも珍しくない。休日どこかに出かけてカメラでパチパチ写真を撮ったりすると40～30％ぐらいまで減ることはあるが、それでも十分な容量である。これだけで買い替えた価値があると思っている。

一方で、必ずしも満足といえないのが、カメラの性能だ。
最近はミラーレス一眼を持ち出さずに、もっぱらこのスマホのカメラで街歩きやランチの写真を撮っているが、全般に白飛びが多いのに閉口する。露出オーバー気味にプログラミングされているというよりは、ダイナミックレンジが狭いのではないかと思う。また、逆光にひどく弱く、豪快なフレアーが出る。望遠レンズが使えるのはPro-iになかったメリットだが、そもそも望遠の映り自体がかなりプアなので、積極的に使う気になれず、結果的にあまりメリットになっていない。メインの広角レンズについては、センサーが新しい分、Pro-iよりくっきりと映るけれども、なんというかPro-iで時折（偶然）撮れたような、艶やかで空気感を感じるような美しい写真は滅多に撮れない。これはカメラのレンズの違い（Pro-iはガラスレンズ）によるものなのかなとも思ったりもする。

今回リリースされたXperia１VIIは、超広角のセンサーが大きくなったことに加えて、上記の点（白飛びや望遠の映り）もかなり改善されているという。そういうレビューを読むと、やはりXperia１VIIを待ったほうが良かったのかぁと、若干の悔いが残る。

まあ、そうはいっても20万超の価格は私にはどうにも出せない。14万（下取りとの差し引き9万弱）で状態最良の中古を購入できたのは結果オーライだと思っていた。

思っていたのだが、、

他の割引がプラス4000円ほど使えるので、合計3.4万引きで購入できることになる。
simフリーの12GB／256GBモデルは約20.4 万なので、割引を使えば約17万となり、さらにXperia１VI（12GB／512GB）を10～11万で売却または下取りに出せれば、プラス6～7万の出費でXperia 1VIIを入手できる。

いやいや、冷静に考えると、すでにXperia1VIを購入するときに9万出費しているわけだから、結局のところ数か月間のXperia 1Vの使用Iを挟んで、15～16万でXpeia 1VII を購入したということになり、直接Pro-iをXperia１VIIに買い替えた時とほとんど変わらないか、むしろ高くついたという計算になる。

結局のところ、一見お得に思えた私の中古Xperia１VI 購入作戦は壮大な遠回りに過ぎなかったのかもしれない。
まあ、実際には、データ移行の手間などを考えると、この短いスパンでXperia１VIIに買い替えることにはならない（と思う）が、なんとも微妙な今回の買い物であった。

So, I ended up purchasing a used Xperia 1 VI—at a rather awkward time, just a month and a half before the release of the Xperia 1 VII. Now, after using it for two months, I can say that overall, I’m quite satisfied. I do think it was a worthwhile upgrade.

That said, there are a few points of concern and disappointment I’d like to share.

A Pleasant Surprise: Battery Condition
To my delight, the battery on this used Xperia 1 VI was in top shape—no degradation at all. It boasts a 5000mAh capacity, and based on usage, that seems to be fully intact. The shop told me it was long-held inventory, and judging from the condition, the previous owner hardly used it before reselling it.

I’ve been running it with “Battery Care” enabled, capped at 80%, and on weekdays I often come home with over 50% battery left. On weekends, after a day out taking lots of photos, it might drop to 30–40%, but that’s still more than enough. Just based on battery life alone, I think the upgrade was worth it.

The Letdown: Camera Performance
Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the camera.

I’ve been leaving my mirrorless camera at home lately and relying solely on the Xperia for street snaps and lunch photos. But it’s prone to blown-out highlights, and I suspect a narrow dynamic range rather than just poor exposure tuning. It also performs poorly in backlit conditions, often producing intense lens flare.

While the addition of a telephoto lens is something the Xperia Pro-I lacked, the actual image quality is underwhelming—I rarely use it. As for the main wide-angle lens, it produces sharper images than the Pro-I thanks to the newer sensor, but I almost never get the kind of rich, atmospheric shots I could sometimes (accidentally) capture on the Pro-I. I wonder if that’s due to the Pro-I’s use of glass lenses.

A Twist of Fate
Then again, the Xperia 1 VII retails for over ¥200,000, which is way out of my budget. I was happy to find a top-condition used Xperia 1 VI for ¥140,000 (effectively less than ¥90,000 after trade-in).

...or so I thought.

Just for fun, I entered a cashback lottery for the Xperia 1 VII—and somehow, I won first prize: ¥30,000!

With other discounts, I could now get ¥34,000 off the list price. That brings the cost of the SIM-free 12GB/256GB model (approx. ¥204,000) down to around ¥170,000. If I can sell or trade in my Xperia 1 VI (12GB/512GB) for around ¥100,000–¥110,000, I could potentially upgrade for just ¥60,000–¥70,000 more.

But hold on—if I factor in the ¥90,000 I already spent on the Xperia 1 VI, I’m essentially paying ¥150,000–¥160,000 for the Xperia 1 VII, with a few months of Xperia 1 VI use in between. That’s about the same, or even more expensive, than if I had just upgraded directly from the Pro-I to the 1 VII in the first place.

Final Thoughts
So in the end, what seemed like a clever purchase strategy—buying a used Xperia 1 VI—might have been a costly detour. That said, I probably won’t upgrade to the 1 VII right away, considering the hassle of another data migration. Still, this whole experience leaves me with mixed feelings.
