On march 21st is my grandfather's birthday. He will be 89 years old on his next birthday. His birthday is coming soon. We will have a small dinner party on his birthday.
My grandfather has dementia. He doesn't usually remember me but sometimes remember my mother because she is his daughter. So he lives in an old age home for people with dementia. He looks so calm and happy there because there are good staff who take care of him. In the home, my grandfather and all the other patients have many events and parties to keep them entertained. They often go out shopping or driving or on picnics. Sometimes he drive with us. And sometimes he has lunch with us.
Two years ago we had my grandfather's birthday party at our house. My grandfather and my uncle and my aunt came to our house. We had a lovely the dinner together. There were many dishes on the table. So, we couldn't put the birthday cake on it. That birthday cake was too big! It had beautiful icing on it and a good sweet smell. We had put it on a low table until the tea time, after dinner.
We were watching it very carefully because Domi kept walking around the cake sniffing it and licking his mouse. But, just for one moment, nobody was watching the cake and Domi dove into the beautiful icing. My aunt spotted Domi after he had taken his chance. She screamed, "Look! Domi stop that! " We were surprised by her voice and looked to the cake at Domi. His face was still buried in the icing. He was wagged his tail hard because he was very exciting and happy! I screamed "Domi stop eating the cake! No! You must get your face out of our cake!" But Domi seemed not to hear my voice. I separated him from the cake with my hands. His face had turned white and he was licking around his mouse, holding onto my hands. He looks so happy. We were very angry but we still laughed at him. My grandfather found it all very funny. We ate the cake after we had cut out the part where Domi's face had been.
