喜びと悲しみ
喜びと悲しみは分けることはできない。
壮観な眺めをみてこころが踊る時、
それを見ることができない友達のことを思い出すかもしれません。
私たちが悲しみに押しつぶされそうな時、
本当の友情がどんなものかを発見するかもしれません。
喜びは悲しみの中に、悲しみは喜びの中に隠れているのです。
もしあらゆる犠牲をはらって悲しみを避けようとすると
決して喜びを味わうことができません。
もし喜悦にたして疑いをもつと
苦悩はわたしたちのところには決して来ないのです。
喜びと悲しみは私たちの魂の成長を助ける親です。
Joy and sorrow are never separated.
When our hearts rejoice at a spectacular view，
we may miss our friends who cannot see it，
and when we are overwhelmed with grief，
we may discover what true friendship is all about.
Joy is hidden in sorrow and sorrow in joy.
If we try to avoid sorrow at all costs，
we may never taste joy，
and if we are suspicious of ecstasy，
agony can never reach us either.
Joy and sorrow are the parents of our spiritual growth.
