I am sure that one day passed the expiration date foods are still good to eat.Most food is still edible after the expiration date but may not be very tasty.Did you know that stores are not legally required to remove food once the expiration date has passed? They are strictly "advisory" in nature.It seems the clothing donation boxes at shopping center’s parking lot are always full.(It is strange that those boxes are belonging to NJ charity organization. Maybe people in NY are more generous than people in NJ?)We donate our used clothing, shoes and household items to the local Goodwill.Goodwill is a non-profit organization that provides job training, employment placement services and other community-based programs for people who have a disability, lack education or job experience, or face employment challenges.Goodwill generates income from selling the clothing and household goods donation. I'll eat anything I'm offered.!!! アメリカの自動車メーカーは、使い古したジーンズ、放棄されたペットボトルや製造屑の新しい用途を見つけて新車の部品にそれらをリサイクルしています。GMでは、リサイクルされたカーペットをドアハンドルの取り付け金具に使い、騒音を抑制するため裁断されたデニムを内張りなどに詰めていています。日本の自動車会社もこれに負けずに再利用物質の活用をしているようですね。トヨタとホンダは2015年目標のリサイクル実効率95％達成も視野と頑張っているようです。（リンク）無駄や浪費を抑える事はいつの時代でも良い事ですが特にこの不景気なご時世ではもっと実行するべきでしょう。犬の散歩の折り返し点であるショッピングセンターで毎朝“His table”という奉仕団体の車を見かけます。スーパーマーケットで賞味期限が一日過ぎた食品を譲り受け貧しい人たちへ配達しているようです。賞味期限が切れた食品の殆どは食べても大丈夫なようです。（味は落ちるようですが・・・）アメリカでは賞味期限が切れた食品を店の棚から下ろさなければならないと言う法律はないです。賞味期限は厳密には助言、アドヴァイスに過ぎないのです。ジョンは賞味期限を見ないで買い物をしますが私はしっかり確認しますよ。ショッピングセンターの駐車場の隅に衣類寄付箱が設置されています。いつも満杯なようです。何故かこれらの寄付箱はニュージャージーの慈善団体の物です。ニューヨークの住民の方がニュージャージー住民より寛大なのでしょうか？我が家は衣類等は地元のGoodwill（グッドウィル）に寄付しています。グッドウィルは職業訓練、職業紹介サービス、および他の地域密着型のプログラムを障害者や教育又は職務経験が欠如している人々に提供するです。主な収入は服、靴、家具などの寄付品を2000以上の店舗で中古品販売をして得ています。(2008年度の小売売上は２１．６億ドルです。凄いですね。リンク)アメリカでは非営利団体に対する寄付は企業でも個人でも一定の限度内で所得控除対象になります。税金を払うかわりに自分の応援する団体に寄付しようということになります。ジョンの以前の会社では給料から直接、非営利団体へ天引き寄付していました。日本では税金控除対象にならないらしいですね？日本のNPOの活性化には税法を改正する必要がありますね。

Hand Made Noodle
I wanted eat “fresh” ramen noodles, but I cannot buy them in near our house.So I made the handmade noodle with bread flour, baking soda, egg, salt and water.The result was not good. This experiment was another failure. I don’t have any luck with cooking/baking with flours lately.The dough rapidly broke down during flattening process.A bad experience doesn’t discourage me.I tried with another recipe which using bread flour and cake flour 50/50.It came out somewhat successful. I put the dough in the Ziploc and knead it; I stamp on it and put my whole body weight. I flatten out the dough hard with a rolling pin. It is difficult to cut it thinly. The best I could was Udon like the noodle. )The taste is okay; it is edible. We ate with a lot of vegetables and the lamb chops. I will try this next time.("How to make noodles by chinese")Anyway, baking soda which I used for making this noodle is cheap and can be used as an eco-friendly cleaning agent. It is always necessary for me. I use it to deodorize my fridge and freezer . After a month or so, I would use that baking soda to clean around the kitchen. It removes stubborn stains from mugs, oil and grease from the stove. And baking soda will also put out fires and it won't damage anything it touches.Baking soda will also put out fires in clothing, fuel, wood, upholstery and rugs. Scatter the powder by the handful to safely put it out.So it’s a good idea to keep it by the stove, in the garage as well as in the car. 生ラーメンが食べたくなって手打ち麺を作ってみました。強力粉・重曹・卵・塩・水を混ぜて捏ねました。結果は・・・失敗。（最近、粉を使った料理（特にケーキやパンなど）が上手く出来ません。）生地が伸びてくれなくて千切れ千切れのすいとんのよう。それでも懲りずに二回目に挑戦。強力粉と薄力粉を半々のレシピに変えてみました。今回はどうにか成功。生地をジップロックに入れて足で全身の力を込めて押しつけるようによく捏ねました。（靴下を穿いていても写真だとリュウマチで変形が始まった足の形が見えますね。もう幅広の靴しか履けません。）頑張って麺棒で生地を薄く出来たのですが細くカットするのが難しくてうどんのようなラーメンです。味はまぁまぁ。沢山の野菜とラムチョップを載せて食べました。（次回はこれに挑戦！！動画）さてこの麺作りで使った重曹は安くてエコフレンドリー、我が家の必需品です。消臭剤として冷蔵庫に入れて置いたものをクレンザーとして使っています。油で汚れたレンジ周りもコップに染み付いた茶渋も重曹で綺麗に落ちます。更に重曹は消火に役立ち、それに触れた部分にダメージを与えないので台所だけでなく車庫や車の中に常備しています。燃料や火がついた衣服、木材、家具などに振りまけば消火するそうです。 "踏ん張っている" Duchess

A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor's book.
It’s so cold outside, and inside house is so warm and comfortable, I don’t want to go out on a day like this. That’s why I had not gone for food shopping lately.Well, we run out of milk and eggs, I had to go buy food today. I am not only one be retreating into the home. John is cocooning, too. I forced him to go to play tennis last night. It started at 8:30PM and we played more than two hours. I thought I will sleep well, but I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t go back to sleep.My entire body felt like a bruise and even the slightest touch feels terrible this morning. It’s neither Rheumatism pain nor muscular pain. It’s Fibromyalgia which got worse by lack of sleep.I feel better after have some exercise or go out for a change, but I have to be careful not to overtired otherwise I would be hit with a debilitating feeling of exhaustion. I am glad that I don’t have to take any medications for Fibromyalgia now. Prescription medicines didn’t help me much anyway. It seems the pharmaceutical companies are making effort s to treat (sell) drugs for Fibromyalgia.Until regulatory hurdles in the EU are overcome, the US offers the greatest commercial potential and will be the primary growth market for all current and future brands indicated for fibromyalgia. It’s techno-thriller. There is an interesting concept of ultimate outsourcing that works by operating robot in US from Mexico remotely in an advanced networked plant. It is a good storytelling movie, but could be better, much better. Slide show Video外が寒くて室内がポカポカと暖房が利いて暖かいと外出が億劫になります。スーパーに買い物に行かなくてはと思いながらダラダラ数日過ぎてしまいました。今日は冷蔵庫にミルクも卵もないので仕方なく買出しに行ってきました。引き篭もりになっているのは私だけでなくジョンも同じ。昨晩は嫌がるジョンを連れてテニスに行ってきました。夜の８時半からテニスを二時間少々プレーして、帰路に着いたのは１１時近くになっていました。身体を動かしたから今夜は熟睡できると思いきや、夜中に目を覚ましてしまい、その後はナカナカ寝付かれませんでした。今朝は身体中痛いです。リュウマチ痛でも筋肉痛でもなくどうも線維筋痛のようです。全身打ち身状態のようで軽く触るだけでも痛いです。寝不足で線維筋痛症の発作が出たのですね。私の場合、線維筋痛症の痛みは身体を動かしたり外出して気分転換をすると楽になります。急に疲労感に襲われてグッタリしてしまうことが多いので無理はできません。最近は線維筋痛症の認識が世間一般に広まってきていますね。患者にとっては喜ばしいことですが、まだまだ「怠け病」だの「気の病」だと思っている人が多いようです。私も「精神的なものかしら？」と思っていました。でも違うようです。私の場合処方薬はそれ程効果が現れなかったので今は飲んでいません。兎も角、製薬会社は治療薬開発に力を入れているようです。どうやら線維筋痛症治療薬市場は向こう１０年で２倍、２５億ドルに成長するらしいです。寝不足のボーとした頭で「スリープディーラー」英語の字幕付きメキシコ映画（スペイン語）DVDを観るのは辛かったです。近未来のアメリカ国内のロボットをメキシコの工場から作動すると究極のアウトソーシングのコンセプトは興味深かったです。物語は面白いけど深みが無い出来上がりで残念です。もっと良い映画が出来そうな可能性を秘めています。

Global Hand-Washing Day
Today’s high was 41F, low was 34F.When I looked out through the window, a split second I thought it was snowing; it was cold autumn rain.(6 O'clock news says "It's snow"!!)It seems the global warming has nothing to do with NY.John caught a cold for several days. Even though I am good at washing my hands, I have been infected by this virus, too. (My immune system is weakening by my medications.)Anyway, doctors say hand washing is the best flu prevention.Today is Global Hand-Washing Day which is a campaign to motivate and mobilize millions around the world to wash their hands with soap. The campaign is dedicated to raising awareness of hand washing with soap as a key approach to disease prevention.Researchers from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine spent several months leading up to last year's Global Handwashing Day peering through a camera's lens at men and women using a service station's restroom at a major crossroads in Britain. Their challenge: to gauge not only how many people actually use soap when they wash their hands, but also what messages -- flashed onto LED screens at the entrance to the toilets -- will most effectively induce people to use soap when they wash their hands?Men are basically gross: Fewer than a third of them (32%) used soap when they washed their hands -- and those were the ones that actually washed their hands. And they responded best to hand-washing-reminder messages that invoked disgust, such as "Wash it off now or eat it off later."Women are not as gross, though there is room for improvement. (In fact, any messages that included the word "germs" were the most successful in inducing soapy hand-washing in women, but least successful in doing so in men.)(http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/booster_shots/2009/10/its-global-handwashing-day-do-you-know-where-your-soap-is.html) 今日の最高気温５℃、最低は１℃で只今（４ＰＭ）２℃です。一瞬窓の外を見たら『雪？！』と思いましたが氷雨でした。（夕方６時のニュースで「雪」だと言っています。）地球温暖化ってＮＹは関係ないのかしらね～。ジョンが数日風邪気味です。頻繁に手を洗っている私もこのウィルスに感染したみたいです。リュウマチ薬の副作用で免疫が低下しているのでしょうね。兎も角インフルエンザ予防に手洗いが一番重要だとドクター達は言っています。今日は国連（UN）が定めた「世界手洗いの日(グローバル・ハンドウォッシング・デイ)」です。世界73カ国で石鹸で手を洗うことの重要性が呼びかけられます。石鹸での手洗いは、毎年約350万人もの子どもたちの命を奪っている下痢性疾患と肺炎を防ぐ、最も効果的で経済的な方法のひとつです。英国の大学研究チームがサービスエリアに設置されたお手洗いで石鹸を使って手を洗うかどうかカメラを通して観察しました。(英語のリンク）３２日間にわたり、約２５万人の手洗い行動を調査。さらにトイレの入り口に設置した電光掲示板でさまざまなメッセージを表示し、人々の行動の変化について調べました。通常のトイレ後の手洗い時に石鹸を使う人の割合は、男性で３２％、女性では６４％。電光掲示板にメッセージを点滅させた実験では、男性では通常より約１２％多く、女性では通常より１１％多くが石鹸を使用。男性に一番効果があったメッセージは「今洗い落とすか、後で”それを”食べるか」女性は《ばい菌》と言う言葉が含まれて全てメッセージに効果があったようです。「水はばい菌を殺しません」それにしても半数以上の男性は汚いですね。握手も出来ませんね。

It’s autumn… We got stormy days and we couldn’t go for walks.However, today was a very pleasant day to stroll.It’s pretty as leaves are changing colors.Dogs enjoyed the walk, too. Duke saw a sheep-look-a-like dog and wanted to check on her, but she completely ignored him. Duchess doesn’t care about other dogs. There are many fallen brunches which we should pick up, but we don’t have time for the yard work.We are too busy watching Korean and Japanese Drama. We are addicted to them.We just finished watching “My Lovely Sam Soon (My Name is Kim Sam Soon)”Sometimes it was difficult read the English subtitle which disappeared too quickly.(It’s a good training for speed reading.) Even we didn’t get all dialogues, we enjoyed this drama. They exchanged harsh words and acted very aggressive. It’s funny. Our friend Kim is not like them at all. She has a lady like manner.I wonder Korean women are really blunt like women in this drama; it might only be in comedy dramas. When I was in Taipei studying Chinese, I saw a young couple started quarreling while walking.She smacked him with her bag.We witnessed many occasions like this. We thought Taiwanese women are strong. John is so glad that I am Japanese. Anyway, Kim Sam soon is certainly chubby for Asian standard. I guess her BMI is 23~24 which is ideal range for American.67% of adult in USA is Overweight (BMI 25 to 30) or obese (BMI over 30) 34% of adults are obese (http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/overwt.htm)Health Insurance companies are denying obese people.An obese baby was denied by a Health Insurance company. To keep my health insurance, I might have to lose some weight. 秋ですね～。強風の日が続いていて散歩が出来ませんでしたが今日は風もなく気持ちよく散歩ができました。ご近所さんもすっかり秋の飾りつけをしています。Ｄｕｋｅは子羊に似た犬と挨拶をしたかったようですが相手にされませんでした。Ｄｕｃｈは他の犬には全く興味を示しません。庭に落ちている枝拾いしなくてはいけないのですが最近、庭仕事をする暇がないです。韓国ドラマ『私の名前はキム・サムスン』に嵌ってしまって全１６話一週間で観てしまいました。英語の字幕がハイスピードで消える場合が多くて字幕を追うのに苦労しました。速読の練習にはなります。台詞を全部は理解できなかったけど面白い。率直な言い方というか不躾な会話に攻撃的な態度。（男性にとっては）怖いですよね。韓国女性ってあんなにハッキリしているのでしょうか？私の友人のキムは淑やかな女性なので多分コメディーの中だけの話でしょうね。私が台湾に留学していた当時、私の前を歩いていた学生カップルが口論始め、女性がバックで男性を殴りだしたのを目撃したことがあります。その他にも似たような場面に何回も遭遇しています。台湾女性は気が強いですよ。ジョンは私が日本女性で良かったと言っています。『私の名前はキム・サムスン』は日本でも人気があったようですね。キム・サムスンは確かに東洋人のスタンダードでは太めです。多分彼女のＢＭＩは２３～４だと思います。でもアメリカなら理想体重の範囲です。２００５年のデータではアメリカの６７％の大人が肥満だそうです。病的な肥満（ＢＭＩが３０以上）が３４％もいます。最近、肥満が理由で健康保険を却下されるケースが増えています。４ヶ月の赤ちゃんが肥満なので保険に加入出来ないというニュースがありました。(ＡＢＣnews)私も健康保険を維持していく為に減量しなくてはいけないようです。 因みにチョン・リョウォンってケイやジェニーに似ていません？

Today is Columbus Day, its federal holiday, but many companies and Schools seem to ignore the holiday entirely. It’s also my Birthday which John sometimes had forgotten in the old days. Nowadays our girls won’t let him forgets it. They prepared the presents early. Jenny sent me her presents before she left for her THREE WEEKS vacation to Italy and Spain. (She is so lucky to be able to take such a long leave from her work.) Amy’s package arrived one week before and I am already using her gift, the rice cooker, which can cook the brown rice. Regardless of my wishes, I have approached one year closer to the eligible age for “Senior Discounts”.The age of Senior Citizens is reckoned differently by different organizations. Japan Railroad thinks 50 years old is a senior. According to Japanese airlines, JAL and ANA , 60 and older are senior. Amtrak is 62 and older.Senior discounts on America based airlines are less common today than ever before and sale fares are usually less expensive. (Their idea of a senior is an age of 65+.)This recession hits the airlines hard also. The airline industry has yet to recover from an across-the-board revenue drop that followed the 2001 terrorist attacks. The airlines charge the in-flight meals and check in baggage now. It is like traveling by a train when you are on an economy class.A strange announcement of ANA made the news.(ABC News, Time)ANA staffers encourage fliers to make that one final dash to the restroom to expel some of that extra weight before boarding.ANA hopes reducing weight makes flying as environmentally friendly as possible; of course it is to save fuel and of course money.Don’t you go to the bathroom before boarding anyway?I wonder whether their campaign would produce any satisfactory results.今日はコロンバス・ディー、一応アメリカの祝日で政府機関はお休みですが、休日ではない企業や学校が殆どです。そして今日は昔はジョンも忘れてしまう事があった私の誕生日。最近は娘達が早々とプレゼントの準備をしてくれています。長女のジェニーは三週間のイタリア・スペイン旅行に行く前にプレゼントを送ってきました。（本と一昨年のプレゼントの室内ハーブガーデン用のイタリアンハーブ）それにしても三週間の長期休暇を取れるとはラッキーですね。エミのプレゼントも一週間前に届きました。（私が欲しかった炊飯器。玄米も美味しく炊けます。）こう次々ギフトが届いていたら流石のジョンも私の誕生日を忘れないですよね。望む望まずに関わらず、また一年、《シニア割引》利用可の年齢に近づきました。それにしても各業界会社によってシニアの年齢基準が随分と違うのですね。ＪＲなら５０歳以上（私もＯＫ） ＪＡＬ／ＡＮＡなら６０歳以上。北米ではアムトラック（全米鉄道旅客輸送公社）が６２歳以上。航空会社は６５歳以上のシニアに割安料金をオファーしていましたが最近はシニアプログラムを廃止したようです。不景気で航空会社も経営難。このような割引をオファーを出せなくなっています。機内の食事もチェックインの荷物も追加料金。エコノミークラスだと列車で旅しているようなものですね。全日空の奇妙なアナウンスがアメリカのニュースで話題になっていました。ABC ニュース タイム旅客機に搭乗前の乗客にトイレに行ってもらい、運航便の重量を少しでも軽くすることで、二酸化炭素の排出削減などにつなげようというプログラムを、ＡＮＡが1日から始めたそうです。排泄で一人５００グラム軽くなるそうです。燃料費節約がコストダウンにつながると言う事です。国内便と東京ーシンガポール間の国際便で日本語でアナウンスされています。普通、搭乗前にお手洗いに行きますよね？一ヶ月の試験期間だと言う事ですがどれだけ効果がでるでしょうか？

I received an email from my friend claiming that she is stranded in a foreign country and desperately needs my help to get home.I'm sorry for this odd request because it might get to you too urgent but it's because of the situation of things right now, i'm stuck in london right now, i came down here on vacation and i was robbed, worse of it is that bags, cash and cards and my cell phone was stolen at GUN POINT, it's such a crazy experience for me, i need help flying back home, the authorities are not being 100% supportive but the good thing is i still have my passport but don't have enough money to get my flight ticket back home, please i need you to loan me some money, will refund you as soon as i'm back home, i promise. ColleenThe email originates from her real email account. I had not seen her for more than a month, so I didn’t know what she has been up to.I sent her an email back asking how I can help her. Thanks for your quick response, well what we need now is a financial help, our return flight leaves in few hours but we are literally stranded here, we need some money to pay for hotel bills and also get a taxi to the airport till we are back home to refund it back...Can you help us with that? At this time I thought this might be a scam. Three hours later, I found she is in NY and the emails were not from her. Anyway, I got two more mails from this scammer. (The IP Address is in Mauritius,Africa)He or she used my friend’s name but different email address this time; my friend’s email is @hotmail.com, and the scammer’s is using @operamail.com Sorry for my late response, I was busy filling out some forms with the police, well $700 is all we need more and all you need to do is just wire the money to my name and to the location here which is London, United Kingdom, then I can pick up the money with my passport at any authorized western union office here. Thanks, Colleen Did you get my last message? Are you on it? Please let us know and I hope you can get this done for us before out flight leaves. They went to my Junk mail folder, so I didn’t see them until later. So, someone has her ID, even though she has never been in England.Anyhow, they hacked into my Gmail this evening. I got the hacker’s IP Address which belongs to someone in Witcha, Kansas. I changed my password, deleted all my emails and contacts, but it might be too late. Once they have hacked into an account, the scammers can then send an email with the false claims about being stranded and in need of money to all the email addresses included in the account's address book.( http://www.hoax-slayer.com/stranded-scam.shtml) If you get an email from me asking for help/money, please don’t reply to it. Even if I’m in trouble in the oversea, I am sure that I can get back home safely and I will write about the exciting story on my blog. 旅行中だという友人からの電子メールが入りました。「急で変なお願いだけど、私本当に困っているの。ロンドンで拳銃を持った強盗に全てを盗まれてしまって所轄は助けになってくれなくて。幸いパスポートは手元にあるけど帰路の航空料金を助けてくれないかしら？帰ったら必ず返すと約束するからお願いします。」電子メールは彼女が普段使っているアドレスだし暫く会っていない友人なのでバケーションの予定など知らなかったし。困っている人を見たら助けたくなる《お節介な》私は即返信でどう助けたらよいのか聞きました。「ホテル代と空港までの車代が必要なの」それなら私がクレジットカードでホテル代を支払えます。「ホテルの支配人がアメリカ発行のクレジットカード決済は電話では出来ないって言っています。ウェスタンユニオンでクレジットカードで送金出来るから調べてみて」この時点で「変？」と思いました。彼女の携帯に電話をしても彼女の親友に電話をしても留守電。ホテルの名前と住所、幾ら必要なのか教えて・・・と返信しました。私がホテルに電話して彼女の安否の確認、支配人と話して私のクレジットカードでの決済を話すつもりでした。３時間後にこれが全て詐欺だと判明。この詐欺師は最後の二通はメールのＩＤは友人と同じだけどドメインが違うメールを送ってきていました。どうもそのドメインが怪しい所為か私のゴミ箱に入っていました。不幸中の幸いでこの二通に気がついたのは詐欺だと分かった後なので、私は送金をしていません。「私の名前宛にロンドンのウェスタン・ユニオンへ７００ドル送金してください。私のパスポートを提示したらロンドンの全ウェスタン・ユニオン店舗で現金が受け取れるの。」落ち着いて考えたら強盗がパスポートも盗んでいる可能性が高くそのパスポートを利用してお金を下ろせます。因みに彼女は渡英したことはないそうです。彼らは、彼女の偽パスポートを持っているのかしら？多分偽のＩＤを持っているんでしょうね。 以前のウェスタン・ユニオンはアメリカの電報通信会社として有名でした。現在は個人間の送金に利用されることが多く国際送金も簡単に出来るようです。簡単なので詐欺に利用される事が多いので利用は要注意が必要。この詐欺師のグループはロンドンで現金を受け取り、アメリカ国内でメールアドレスにハッキングしています。私のメールも今日の夕方ハッキングされています。カンサス州のＩＰアドレスでした。手遅れでしょうが、直ぐにパスワードを変更して、全メールとアドレスブックの情報を削除しました。私からの「助けて」と言うメールが届いたら無視してください。万が一そういう災難にあっても私なら無事に帰ってきて体験談をブログに書くでしょうね。友人と警察にこの詐欺を通告しました。ＦＢＩに連絡する事になるそうです。（友人を騙ったメールのＩＰアドはアフリカのモーリシャスです。ＦＢＩではなくＣＩＡの仕事ではないかしら？）

Though a tree grows so high, the falling leaves return to the root.
2007It was the Mid-Autumn Festival (Moon Festival) last night. Despite of the bad weather, that didn't allow us to see the most beautiful moon in the year, we still enjoyed the moon.Americans calls autumn “Fall”. Leaves and nuts are falling from the trees. (You have to be careful not hit by the falling nuts. Even a small acorn, if it falls from sky high on your head, it would be painful.) The dogs found a caterpillar which might have fallen from the tree. I think it’s a Spotted Apatelodes. I hope it’s not a Fall Webworm which are pest and can damage trees. Not all moths are dull colors, particularly tiger moths (Arctiidae) and giant silkworm moths (Saturniidae). Fall Webworm moth is prettier than Spotted Apatelodes moth, but I am sure that they don’t care what I think. Anyway this white caterpillar was cute. Some people are allergic to caterpillars, I think it’s not safe me to touch them. When I was young, I had a very bad rush on my face from moth scales.折角の中秋の月は曇り空で見れませんでしたが、美味しい月餅は楽しみましたよ。秋は英語でAutimnとかFallですね。 アメリカではFall《落下する》と言う場合が多いです。葉もナッツも木から物凄いスピードで落下しています。小さな団栗でも高所から頭上に落ちてきたら痛いです。犬達が（多分木から落ちてきた）毛虫を見つけました。Spotted Apatelodes という毛虫だと思うのですがアメリカシロヒトリにも似ていてそうだとすると樹木に害を及ぼすので困ります。どちらにしても蛾に成長します。蝶と違って蛾は綺麗な光沢は無いように思われていますが綺麗な蛾も多いです。アメリカシロヒトリも綺麗な白で黒点がアクセント。形は面白いけど色は冴えないSpotted Apatelodes よりは素敵です。蛾達は私の美的評定には興味ないでしょうが・・・ それにしてもこのふわふわ白い毛虫は可愛いですね。まぁ、毛虫アレルギーの人が多いと言う話なので私は触らない方が賢明なようです。私には子供の頃 林間学校で蛾の燐粉が卓上のハンカチに落ち、それを知らずに使用して顔が被れ目が腫れた経験があります。

one mice and two blind dogs. See how they run,
It’s getting cold, and John has been begging to turn the central heating on. I told him,” it’s not cold enough, wear layers of clothing!” (Dismiss a plea!!!) He is a typical American who wants turn on A/C or heater any time he thinks it’s not a “perfect temperature”; for John it should be 74F in summer and 80F in Fall/Winter. It’s 63F inside house now.We should eliminate wasteful spending and save the earth!!!Well, outdoor temperatures at morning and night have become colder (40F) and mice are looking their way into our home. A mouse can squeeze through openings slightly larger than 1/4 inch across!! I am sure that they are already in our basement. While our contractors are working, our garage doors were wide open; we must have many animal freeloaders by now: ” Just make yourselves at home!!”I saw mice near the front door. Do you think that was one of the babies (a WHOLE family was nesting inside our bird feeder) from on our deck back in May, all grown up and come and say hi to me? I thought he was so clever that this mice attempts to camouflage himself as a branch. I wonder he has higher IQ than our dogs that couldn’t get him. By the way, am I the only one thinks mice are cute? John and Lisa said “they are yucky”. Well, you don’t think Mickey and Mini are yucky, do you? めっきり寒くなってきて、ジョンが「暖房入れようよね～」と煩いです。 勿論 私は「まだまだ暖房を入れるほど寒くない。ちょっと厚着をすればすむでしょう。」（嘆願は却下です。）ジョンはこういうことについては全く平均的なアメリカ人、理想的な気温でなければそぐにセントラル冷暖房のスイッチをオン。ジョンの場合の「理想的な気温」は夏の室内温度が２３度で冬は２８度。現在の室内温度は１７度。無駄な出費を控えて地球を救うべきですよね。まぁ、朝晩は冷え込んでいるのは確かです。今日の最低気温は４度でした。そろそろ、ネズミ達が家に侵入してくる時期になってきました。ネズミは隙間が６ミリ在れば入ってこれます。もう既にネズミ達は地下室に入ってきているのでしょうね。コントラクターは車庫の戸を開けっ放しで外回りの仕事をしています。多分、動物の居候達が既に我が家で寛いでいるのは確実ですね。今日、玄関前でネズミを見かけました。（動画）まさか、以前デックで見つけた子ネズミが成長して私に挨拶に来たわけじゃないですよね？このネズミ、小枝のカモフラージュをしていました。（動画）うちの犬達よりＩＱが高いのでは？（動画）ところでこのネズミを可愛いと思うのは私だけ？ジョンもリサも「気持ち悪い」と言っていますが・・・ミッキーやミニの事を気持ち悪いとは思いませんよね？

It is sometimes called the circum-Pacific belt or the circum-Pacific seismic belt.About 90% of the world's earthquakes and 80% of the world's largest earthquakes occur along the Ring of Fire.(Largest and Deadliest Earthquakes by Year)According to a scientist in the “Ring of Fire” DVD, which John insisted that I watch, there will be a huge earthquake in Japan within next 30 years. The DVD was made in 1990, so 30 years will be year 2020. I know John won’t move to Japan. He is so worried about disasters; he doesn’t want move to West coast (except Seattle) either. 南太平洋サモア諸島沖で３０日発生したマグニチュード８．０の地震で引き起こされた一連の津波による死者数が１19人を超えたそうです。津波は太平洋の周囲を取り巻く火山帯、いわゆる環太平洋火山帯の内側で発生することが多く、津波の約80％がこの地域で起こっています。環太平洋火山帯は 太平洋を取り巻いて分布する火山帯です。南北アメリカ大陸の太平洋岸に沿って北上し、アラスカ・日本列島・フィリピン諸島を経てニュージーランドに達します。地球上で発生する地震の総数の約90％、最大規模の地震の８０％が太平洋の周囲を取り巻く環太平洋火山帯で集中的に起こっています。最近、ジョンに強要されて観たＤＶＤ「環太平洋火山帯（火の輪）」（１９９１年製作）のなかで「３０年以内に確実に日本で大震災（大地震）が起こる」と科学者が言っていました。１９９１年から３０年というと２０２０年ではありませんか！！ジョンは絶対に日本へは引越ししたくないと言い出しています。（それでこのＤＶＤを見せたのです。）西海岸も同じ理由で引越しの候補地ではなくなりそうです。シアトルやカナダのバンクーバー付近が危ないらしいです。（でもシアトルには長女が居るので候補地に入っているのですよね。）因みに、ＮＹでも（殆どが微震ですが）地震が起きます。
