Recent articles about many countries’ growing distrust or dislike of the United States disturb me. I am 16, and many kids my age are hurt by comments about American people. If we go to another country, we feel that we will be hated by everyone. I plan on moving to Japan later in my life, but after hearing what others say about Americans it scares me! It starts to make you wonder if there is any place in the world these days where one’s personality is more important than nationality.
I wish some people would look beyond our being American. I agree that sometimes I can’t stand the U.S. for all its problems, have the same view on things as the goverment? It’s begining to feel that this is actually the case. I hope the feelings toward us change. I and others need to feel that we are accepted for who we are --- not because of where we come from.
