This was one of the bottles in Ukiki-san’s lucky bag. When it comes to the Languedoc region, the image that usually comes to mind is rich, casual reds, but this bottle is a white. I hardly ever choose to buy Languedoc whites myself, so this kind of opportunity is actually quite precious. The grape varieties are Picpoul, Terret Blanc, and Grenache Blanc. Although it’s a young 2023 vintage, the color doesn’t have a greenish tint, suggesting the use of ripe grapes. The aroma features grapefruit, yellow peach, fresh herbs, and minerality. On the palate, the fruitiness is abundant but not sweet; combined with firm acidity, it finishes crisp and dry, which I really like. This wine seems like a good match for a wide range of seafood dishes, and the 12.5% alcohol content is just the right balance for me—not too high. The retail price is a bit bold at just over 2,000 yen, but I’d definitely like to try it again if I get the chance.
