私が普段服用している薬と副作用の疑念

十数年飲み続けてきたリピトールが合わなくなり、昨年末までだましだまし飲み続けていたが、続けて飲むとどうしても副作用が出てしまうので、年初から服用を中断していた。
この症状、かつては「コロナの後遺症？」かとも疑っていたもので、とにかく全身の倦怠感や不快感・腰痛・背中痛・ふくらはぎの張りなどがひどくなる。とはいえ、これらは風邪などの体調不良でも起こりえるものなので、いったん症状が出ても、薬によるものなのか、他の原因によるものなのかが、判別しずらく始末が悪い。

しかし、2025年も早くも５か月が終了し、さすがに長期間服用をやめたままなのもよくないのではと、医師から言われていた。他の薬に変える方法も示唆されたが、過去代替で服用した薬はいずれも1～２週間で副作用が出てしまっていた。
なので、今回、とりあえあず５か月間の間隔をあけてまたリピトールの服用を再開してみようと思った。
こうしてブログに記載しているのは、後日、原因不明の体調不良に陥った時に、薬が原因の可能性を忘れないようにするためだ。

‥とここまで書いた後、毎朝飲むようにして数日が経過したが、さっそく体調が悪くなってきた気がする。なんというか、午前中に原因不明の睡魔に襲われるのだ。しかし、これが本当にリピトールの再開によるものなのか、実に判別しずらく、難しい。
今度は、服用タイミングを就寝前に変えてみようと思うが、これまでの経験では、そうすると夜間にふくらはぎの張りで眠れなかったりするのだよなぁ…。全く悩ましいものである。

After taking Lipitor for over a decade, I found that it no longer suited me. I had been managing to take it until the end of last year, but continuing it inevitably caused side effects, so I stopped taking it at the start of this year.
Initially, I even wondered if these symptoms might be “post-COVID effects,” because I experienced severe fatigue, discomfort throughout my body, lower back pain, back pain, and tightness in my calves. However, since these symptoms can also arise from colds or other health issues, it’s difficult to tell whether they are caused by the medication or other reasons once they appear, which makes things tricky.

However, five months into 2025, my doctor advised me that it might not be good to remain off the medication for so long. Although switching to other drugs was suggested, all the alternatives I tried previously caused side effects within one to two weeks.
So, I decided to try restarting Lipitor after a five-month break. I’m writing about this on the blog to remind myself later not to overlook the possibility that unknown health problems could be caused by medication.

Since writing this, I have been taking the medication every morning for several days, but I feel my condition is worsening. Specifically, I have been hit by unexplained drowsiness during the morning. However, it’s genuinely difficult to determine whether this is really due to resuming Lipitor or some other cause.
Next, I plan to try taking it before bedtime, but from past experience, this tends to cause calf tightness at night, which makes it hard to sleep... It’s truly a troublesome issue.
