きのうの日本経済新聞朝刊にレクサスに関して気になる記事が掲載されていたのでご紹介します。
それは｢2010年までに、多目的スポーツ車（ＳＵＶ）など４車種を新たに発売、06年比で８車種と倍増させる。｣と言うものです。
ここで気になるのは、追加される４車種の内訳です。
記事にもあるようにＳＵＶとして北米で“ レクサス　RX ”として人気のある、現「ハリアー」の後継車が08年に市販されるのは間違いないでしょう。
そして09年ころに投入される欧州のスポーツカーにも対抗する高級スポーツカーというのは、恐らく「レクサスLF-A」のことでしょう。
残る２車種ですが、一つは以前このブログでもスクープ写真をご紹介した5リットルV8エンジンを搭載した「レクサスIS500」を指していると思われます。

この「レクサス　LF-C」というのは、ISをベースにV8エンジンを搭載したフルオープン・スポーツクーペです。
何も今、国内で瀕死の状態のスポーツクーペを市販するより、BMW 1シリーズ、メルセデス・ベンツ　Aクラス、Bクラスに対抗できる高級コンパクトカーを市販した方が、市場に受け入れられると思いますし、欧州でも人気が出てレクサスというブランドを認識してもらえると私は思うのですが。

　トヨタ自動車は高級車ブランド「レクサス」で2010年までに、多目的スポーツ車（ＳＵＶ）など４車種を新たに発売、06年比で８車種と倍増させる。レクサスは発売1年で低迷が続いているが、９月19日に発売する旗艦車種「ＬＳ」（現セルシオ）は予約受注が既に8000台を超え好調に推移している。車種のラインアップを充実させ、欧州の高級車に対抗できるブランド力をつける。

　車種拡充では08年に現「ハリアー」の後継車となるＳＵＶを、09年ころには欧州のスポーツカーにも対抗する高級スポーツカーを投入する。さらに10年までに新たに２車種を追加する。

　各車種をベースに搭載エンジンやタイプの異なる派生車も順次投入する。ＬＳ発売から半年後の07年春にはＬＳのハイブリッド車「ＬＳ600ｈ」を投入するほか、09年ごろにはＳＵＶのハイブリッド車も発売する計画だ。
