I think there are various reasons, such as because I wanted to try new things, because I didn't want to do anything else in my high school club activities, and so on. All of these are great reasons to start kyudo.
In the end, I am happiest when everyone starts archery because it is"fun" and "because I like it".
As the old saying goes, "If you like what you do, be good at what you do." Doing what you love and having fun may be the shortest route to becoming good at archery.
Compared to other sports, archery really fills the gap between beginners and experienced players in an instant. It is common for people who have been doing it for 10 years to be overtaken by people who have been doing it for half a year.
Will inexperienced people start playing soccer in high school college club activities? I don't think so. However, archery is different. I think that the appeal of Kyudo lies in that. You can start anytime.
