接続詞、前置詞

接続詞

★「in that + S + V」の「that」は接続詞の「～のいう点で」という意味です。関係代名詞ではありません。
He deserves praise in that he expanded my business.

★for「～というわけは」を、理由を表す等位接続詞として用いる場合は、文頭ではなく常に文中に用います。
×For he had not paid his bill, his gas was cut off.
○As he had not paid his bill, his gas was cut off.
○Since he had not paid his bill, his gas was cut off.

★時間や条件に関わる接続詞を使う場合、その文節中（副詞節）では未来形の「will」は使えません。
When you meet her tomorrow, tell her to call me.

★「will」を使わない接続詞一覧。
When, if, unless, provide, on condition that, after, before, as soon as, until, by the time, once, while, etc.

前置詞

★this morning / afternoon / evening
○this morning
○in the morning
×in this morning

★besides ～「～のほかに、（否定、疑問文で）～を除いて」
Besides the mayor, many other notables were present.
No one knows it besides me.

★beside ～「～のそばに」
She sat beside me.
