究極の復活法 Xbox 360のRRoDの修理に成功

初めての投稿になります。

Basically, my friends xbox got rrod and he asked to take a look at it, so i did the usual thermal compound fix etc. Worked for <2 hours and then gave up again.
友達のXboxがRRoD喰らったのでちょっと見てほしいと頼まれました。そんな時普段は放熱用コンパウンドなどを使っていますが、その日は2時間格闘した挙げ句ギブアップしました。

So, i got it back and decided to take a closer look. Firstly i noticed that the bottom of the DVD drive was 'stained' black with heat, if i rubbed the colouring it wouldn't move. This obviously was a major problem if the heat had damaged the metal on the metal DVD drive case, it was clearly getting really hot to burn that.
なので家に持ち帰って調査することにしました。調べてみると、DVDドライブの底が熱で真っ黒に汚れていることにまず気が付きました。擦ってみたところで取れなさそうでした。熱でDVDドライブの金属ケースの金属がやられたのだとするとかなりの重症です。明らかに高熱で燃えてしまったようです。

It seemed they sacrificed the heatsink on the GPU to make room for the DVD drive. This sucks and causes errors.
どうもDVDドライブのスペースを確保するためにGPUのヒートシンクを犠牲にしたように思います。ドライブが熱の逃げ場をなくし、結果不具合が発生しているのです。

What i did was
そこで私が実行したことは以下です。
a) Screw a fan into the GPU heatsink.
a) GPUのヒートシンクにファンを取り付ける。
b) replace the tiny sata cable with a longer one.
b) あまりに短いSATAケーブルを長いものに取り替える。

c) ファンのプラスチック部分を削りきちんとフィットさせる。
d) cut a hole in the top of the xbox to further help with heat and another for the DVD drive cables.
d) Xboxの上部に穴を空け、熱が逃げやすくすると同時にDVDドライブケーブルの逃げを確保する。
e) check the console with a >2 hour session on HL2[:D]- worked FINE.
e) Half-Life 2 で2時間以上プレイして問題がないことを確認。
f) place the top case on and screw into position.
f) ケースの位置を合わせネジ止めする位置を決める。
g) install the dvd drive by screwing it into place. One of the holes on the top of the xbox was fine for this purpose and i made the other - i screwed it into place by sacrificing 2 case screws.
g) 位置決めした場所にDVDドライブをネジ止め。Xbox上部にあるネジ穴はちょうど場所が良いので流用し、その他は自分で穴を空けた。私の場合他で使われているネジの2つに犠牲になってもらいました。
h) Put together and test!
h) 後は実際動作するかのテスト。

it worked fine. even the eject button. It hasnt given him any problems since.
イジェクトボタン含めて動作は良好でした。改造以降友達のXboxは全く問題が起こっていません。
This will fix your xbox RRoD (for good, i think) but however you'll have to make your drive external.
この方法でXbox 360のRRoDは修理できると思います。(問題は特にないと思ってます)。ただしドライブを内蔵できなくなります。
