目が覚めたら眠れなくなった。仕方がないので、ニュースを読んでいた。ふむふむ。Wall Street Journal では以下のように伝えられている。
The sharp declines, which cast doubt on the theory that the booming region's fortunes have "decoupled" from those of the U.S., came on the heels of a 4% drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average last week. They also reflected investor indifference toward an economic stimulus package President Bush announced Friday. A U.S. recession could take a significant toll on Asian export-led economies.
僕は、そもそもDecouplingという表現はおかしいのではないかと思う。Multi-Couplingの方が良いのではないだろうか。Multi-Polarへ移行する時代にDecouplingではおかしい。関係性が薄まる部分のみに焦点を当てすぎていると思う。
In Tokyo, the Nikkei Average of 225 shares lost 535.35 points, or 3.86%, to close at 13325.94, a 12.95% drop on the year. Roughly a quarter of the country's exports go to the U.S. In addition, exports from China, such as toys made with the machine tools that Japan exports to China, could take a hit, indirectly hurting Japan.
