Cinema were a short-lived band started in 1982 by Alan White and Chris Squire with Trevor Rabin. They had plans to release their debut album in 1983 and were working on a number of songs (most written by Rabin).Eventually, these musicians were joined by Tony Kaye and Jon Anderson. Soon after this, the band dropped the name "Cinema" and renamed itself "Yes.

「Raised In Captivity」へのコメントです。Billy working on John Wetton's record I was very inspired to work with John, being a huge Wetton fan I thought back to the things that always grabbed me about his works and tried to capture the essence of it in these new tracks. John is incredibly prolific and fast... I can relate to that and so we created the template of the entire record within the 1st 10 days of working together. Writing is a very personal thing and sometimes 2 people may or may not click artisiclly, you just never know. In this case the symbiotic nature of things made it extremely easy to get on with things...we clicked big time on the writing front. I am very proud of the songs and so is John.John being the singer, wrote the lyrics... I tossed out a few song titles that he liked, he took the titles and built entire sets of lyrics around them. We would sit together with an open mic and sketch out melodies, I'd give him a mix of that, he would return the next day ready to record the entire song... I was very impressed with his determination and drive to make headway. What he returned with was always amazing and sounded great. The man writes very interesting lyrics... I'm sure you will agree when you finally hear the record. The speed we moved at was in large part due to my studio and the way I have it set up, there is no down time waiting for a snare sound to get sorted or looking for mic cables to plug in for a vocal, it's all set and in the ready/record mode. As for the vibe of the sessions... one of the most relaxed times in studio I've ever had working. We had many many belly laughs, John has a great sense of humor. He also has a realistic view of the world around him, very grouned and warm. The graciousness he showed my family {since my studio is in my home, my family comes with it lol} was beautiful. My son Ethan told me, "dad... that guy is really cool". Ethans favorite band is King Crimson {he's 7}, go figure... My wife also was amazed with his grace. We spent 30 ish days together working every single day with the exception of the day I had to go to the L.A. NAMM show. Everyday we worked we moved forward... positive forward motion, with ease and probably the most fun I have had producing another artists record. I think the emotions of the record reflect what a great time we had making it. Mastering the record next week... __________________Cheers, Billy

Messages from GregI would like to express my deepest sympathy to the people of Japan as they come to terms with this unbelievable tragedy. The dimension of this terrible event is hard to even contemplate, the TV images are apocalyptic and the devastation is so great there is no real way to even comprehend what it must be like to actually experience such a thing. My own experience of the Japanese people is that they have an unbelievable sense of community and social responsibility so I am sure that they will prevail and come back from this disaster no matter how great the loss or how hard the struggle. I am also sure that everyone all over the world stands ready to help out wherever and however we can.Just know that this nightmare will pass and a new day will dawn, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. My deepest sympathies and condolences,

“Spirit Of The Night ? The Phoenix Tour Live In Cambridge 2009” Box SetFRONTIERS RECORDS SET TO RELEASE SPECIAL EDITION ASIA BOX SET LIVE CD/DVD: “SPIRIT OF THE NIGHT ? THE PHOENIX TOUR LIVE IN CAMBRIDGE 2009” MARCH 8THACCLAIMED ASIA “OMEGA” TOUR CONTINUES THIS SPRING IN NORTH AMERICA(New York, NY) ? Frontiers Records is set to release a special edition live CD/DVD box set from supergroup Asia. SPIRIT OF THE NIGHT ? THE PHOENIX TOUR LIVE IN CAMBRIDGE 2009 will be released in North America on March 8th. The CD boasts 13 tracks, which includes a CD-only track exclusive, as well as a bonus track, while the DVD features 85 minutes of material, as well as bonus DVD content including an EPK and special footage of “In The Court Of The Crimson King” featuring King Crimson founding member Ian MacDonald. Please see below for full track listings. The CD and DVD will also be available for purchase separately. In support of the new live release and their most recent studio album OMEGA (also released via Frontiers Records), Asia will tour in North America, kicking off dates at The State Theatre in Easton, PA on Thursday, April 28th. Please see below for the tour itinerary. Asia’s self-titled debut album exploded onto the music scene in March, 1982, selling over 4 million copies in North America alone, upon its initial release. The album featured several Top 10 singles including the ubiquitous “Heat Of The Moment.” Asia’s supergroup line-up features keyboardist Geoff Downes (Yes, The Buggles), guitarist Steve Howe (Yes), drummer Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake & Palmer) and bassist/vocalist John Wetton (UK, King Crimson). Though all four accomplished musicians had seen chart-topping success in their previous bands, Asia had a special chemistry that fans and music industry insiders were quick to recognize. Throughout 1982, Asia ruled the radio airwaves and MTV and sold out every date on tour. Asia’s debut record remained the best-selling disc of 1982, commanding the #1 spot on Billboard’s album chart for an astonishing 9 weeks. After 23 years apart, the four original band members reunited in 2006, and have toured globally, releasing two new studios albums since getting back together.SPIRIT OF THE NIGHT ? SPRINGTIME RITUAL: CHRIS SQUIRE OF YES TALKS TOURBy Jeb WrightThe band Yes could be described as the Great Grandfather’s of Progressive Rock. Founded in 1968, Yes have survived successes and failures that few other bands can even imagine. They have weathered numerous lineup changes, survived inner band turmoil, excesses, ego trips, financial hardships, and financial windfalls and even made a splash onto the Top 40, the true Holy Grail for anti-pop bands. All Progressive Rock bands since, and into the future, bow to the alter of Yes and pay homage to them as the true creators of the genre. Bass player, and founding member, Chris Squire recently announced that Yes will be hitting the road giving rock nerds of all ages an opportunity to relish in the band’s unique exquisiteness. “We’re doing a small spring tour from March through April. It’s a tour that sweeps around the United States. We’re going to be doing a lot of different songs that we have not been doing over the last several years. We like to do that in order to keep it interesting for people,” Squire explains, “Yes have a really large library of material that we have amassed over the years so we are able to do a lot of different things. Obviously, we have to combine playing the more popular songs that people want to hear with songs that are not so well known. We have been looking at different eras of the band and we are going to be playing some very interesting things on this short tour.” When asked how Yes keep things fresh for long time band mates Steve Howe, Alan White and himself, Squire chuckles and says bluntly, “[We] change the other guys in the band.” The changing of the guard, while nothing new in Yes, has been the topic of debate recently when founding member, and fan favorite vocalist, Jon Anderson was replaced by tribute singer Benoit David, discovered on YouTube. Anderson claims he requested the band slow down but was refused. Squire is matter of fact about the circumstances that led to Anderson being replaced as well as the number of fans who are upset about the change. “I find that to be the minority of people at the moment, as far as I am concerned. Obviously, there are going to be people who will miss him or whatever but life must go on. Believe you me, if Jon was up and his health was good, then it would be a different situation, but that is not the situation. We decided at one point to go one with Benoit. Otherwise the band would have just slipped into obscurity.” Yes fans were shocked when it was announced that they would carry on without the distinctive Anderson, they were more surprised when David turned out to be up for the challenge. “We were very lucky to find someone who can basically do the job. He pretty much has all of the ideas surrounding the job as well,” Squire admits, “Believe me; it isn’t easy to replace anyone in Yes. It took a while for him to fit in but we are working on a new album and we are building things from the ground up. He will probably be very proud when we release a Yes album with brand new music on it with him, and not Jon, singing. The next thing you know he will want more money.”David is not the only new kid on the block, however. The Yes family tree continues to grow, this time with an offshoot of keyboard wizard Rick Wakeman’s DNA. “I remember Oliver [Wakeman] when he was five years old. I never thought of him being our keyboard player back then. When he became a teenager I thought there was a good possibility that he may show up one day. I really enjoy Oliver’s playing and the audience really seems to enjoy his presence as well.” Squire goes on to admit that Oliver and Rick aren’t the only Wakeman’s he has shared the stage with, “We played in Yes with Rick’s other son, Adam, when we had a problem with permits for the Russian keyboard player we once had in the band. We’ve had three Wakeman’s in Yes at different times.” Squire is enjoying playing with the newer, and younger, members of Yes, “Any injection of new talent into the band tends to revitalize the bands energy. Benoit and Oliver are quite young so they have a lot of energy to give. It has been a very cool experience playing with those two and I think the band has been playing extremely well in this situation.” Squire talks about new music but reminds us the spring tour comes first, “There is new music being written, however, we won’t be playing any new music until the summer tour but that is not to say that you shouldn’t come to this one.” When asked if the songwriting approach is different with the new members of the band, Squire explains, “We try to get everyone involved in the songwriting, whoever they are. I have tried to make it a collaborative effort because I think the best music comes out that way. When two or more heads are put together then it tends to lead to more interesting music. I think that has pretty much always been the Yes principal.” The new album will also bring another former member, and producer, of Yes into the fold. Squire won’t let the cat completely out of the bag but he does hint at what the era of Yes the new album may remind one of, “We have Trevor Horn onboard as producer so that should tell you something. Of course, Trevor was the producer of the 90125 album but he was also the singer on the Drama album. You may get a bit of an influence from that era.”今回のツアーではこれまで演奏しなかった曲を披露するそうです。
