コレに対しウェットンがファンの面前で謝罪するという一幕がありました。


事の発端は、ジョブスンがＵＫフォーラムに書き込んだ以下のコメント。

I have been observing JW's relationship-destroying behaviour for many, many years and I have always held my tongue... even when his abuse has been aimed at me.

Over the years, he has made rude remarks about many former colleagues, including Fripp, Bruford, Holdsworth, Bozzio, Ferry, Manzanera, Mackay, Howe (who he would 'never work with again'), Downes and others.

I have held out olive branches to my old friend many times, including in '93, '95, '98, and as recently as four weeks ago when I showed up at an Asia show and was, shockingly, met with complete hostility and rudeness.

John has absolutely no reason to anoint me "enemy-of-the-month" other than as some reaction to his own personal demons; I have been nothing but a loyal friend and fan through his challenging times. It is my hope, some day, that John will recognize this.

My sister-in-law died of breast cancer this morning; tomorrow I fly to New York to attend her funeral. She was a good and kind person. It reminds me that life is too short to be poisoned by closed minds and rude voices.

Please, let me join the Webmaster in continuing to encourage a courteous and civil discourse on this forum at all times. Throughout my career I have tried to maintain a respectful disposition, especially regarding music colleagues. I hope that the general tone of this forum will, by example, demonstrate that decorum still has a place in the open spew-fest of the internet.

エディは最近、義理の妹を肺がんで失い、
深い悲しみに浸っているようです。


要は、同僚との関係を壊すウェットンの悪癖を批判したもの。
最近、エイジアのライブ会場に姿を見せた時も、
敵意と無作法でウェットンにあしらわれたと。


仲良い友人として、ウェットンが自身の悪癖に気付いてほしいと主張。
閉ざされた心と無作法で短い人生を汚すのはよくないと。


この書き込みがウェットンのゲストブックに紹介されるや、
ウェットンは以下のような謝罪文を掲載。

It does not sit right with me that there is bad feeling around. This is a message to you,Ed,wherever you are: If I have done anything to upset you or hurt your feelings, then I unreservedly apologise. This is not my intention. I am not in the business of hurting people, and do not wish to be the antagonist in anyone's eyes. As far as I'm concerned that's as unequivocal and unconditional as it gets. I wish you no harm--on the contrary-- I send my best wishes to you, your family, for your future,and hope this is accepted in the spirit that it is sent.

ウェットンはエディを怒らせたり傷つけたりしたことがあるならば、
素直に謝罪すると述べ、エディと対立する意図はないと釈明したというわけ。



エディの主張には「どうかな…」と思う面もありますが、
ウェットンが真摯に謝罪する姿勢には大人を感じます。


しかしエディの態度からして、ＵＫリユニオンは当分お預けかも。
