Nowadays, in Japan, the number of people who are suffering from lifestyle-related illnesses is increasing. What are lifestyle-related illnesses? They are cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, and so on. Now I'll tell you my experience. About twelve years ago, severe pain suddenly attacked me in the joint of my right big toe. "This must be gout!" I thought. My wife told me to go to the doctor, but I didn't, because I didn't want to take medicine. Why did I suffer from gout? I examined my eating habits. In those days I liked meat, especially innards such as liver, gizzard, and heart. And tough parts, such as tongue, gristle, and pig's feet. I realized that my eating habits made me suffer from gout. So I decided to give up eating meat. As a result, my uric acid level dropped, and what is better, I lost 14 kilograms in one year. I weigh 58 kilograms now. Lifestyle-related illnesses are preventable. Here is my advice. Eat less meat. Drink less milk. Eat fewer sweets. And eat more rice.
