These rankings are from my personal experience. Obviously you're going to disagree with this, especially if you like American beers. Comments are welcome, and if you have any suggestions, I'll be more than happy to go through the scientific process of tasting.
The rankings are divided into geographical areas, as well as a combined list. Here is how the rankings are, well, rranked:
1. Taste - I don't know about you, but when I'm kicking back watching the Oilers game and having a brew or 7, the last thing I want is a bitter taste in the back of my throat. Once I'm thoroughly intoxicated it matters much less, but these rankings are for the most part when I am sober.
2. Alcohol content - You can't overlook this aspect. A high percentage is good when you want to get slammed right here, right now, a medium one for hanging with the guys, a low percentage if you're a girl. I prefer a beer ranging between 5.0%-6.5% alcohol/volume.
An example of a ranking:
Wildcat Extra - A Canadian beer with 6.0% alcohol/vol. This would rate below a few of the better tasting beers, but above some with lower alcohol contect. The slightly bitter taste of this beer is less important than the fact that it will get you drunker, faster, cheaper.
