◆米国ミシガン州の運転免許（18歳以下）
私の住んでいるミシガン州は、14歳8ヶ月を過ぎたら、自動車学校(Driving School)に通う事が出来、
以下の手順を踏めば、16歳になると、一人での運転が出来るようになります。
◆Driver Education Segment 1
まず最初に、第一段階の自動車運転教育(Driver Education Segment1)として、
24時間の講習と、6時間の運転実習を行います。
それを終えると最後に、自動車学校でペーパーテストを受けます。
◆Level 1 License
ペーパーテストに受かったら、セクレタリーオフィス(SOS=Secretary of State)に行きます。
健康状態の簡単な質問に答え、視力の検査を受け、
レベル１のライセンス（免許証、写真なし、紙製）をもらいます。
（この時点で14歳9ヶ月を過ぎていなければなりません。）
◆Preparation for Driver Education Segment 2
＜免許証をもらったら、保険会社に電話して、これから運転を始める事を告げます。
保険会社にも寄るようですが、我が家の保険の場合は、
家族なら、本人が、正式な運転免許証（自分ひとりで運転できる）をもらうまでは、
名前を知らせるだけで、保険料の支払いは必要ないとの事でした。
事故を起したら、親の責任（親の保険を使う）ということですね。＞
保険会社に連絡をしたら、
21歳以上の大人の人を助手席に乗せて、運転の練習を始めます。
（運転した日、運転時間、運転距離をリストに記録します。）
◆Driver Education Segment 2
Segment 1を終えてから、90日経っていて、
なおかつ運転時間が、昼間の運転 30時間、夜間の運転 2時間を越えれば、
第２段階の自動車運転教育(Driver Education Segment 2)として6時間の講習が受けられます。
◆Road Test
レベル１のライセンスが発行されてから、６ヶ月を経過し、
なおかつ運転時間が、昼間50時間、夜間10時間を越えたら、
最終テストのロードテストが受けられます。
ロードテストの試験官は、もらったリストの中から選んで電話をし、予約します。
テストの料金は、試験官によってさまざまです。
わが家の試験官には、50ドル払いました。
テストの内容（息子の場合）は、
まず最初に、教会の駐車場で、縦列駐車と、停止位置で止まれるかの確認。
サブディビジョン（subdivision 住宅地）の中を通りを抜けたあと、
大通りをしばらく走って、Free wayを少し走り、教会の駐車場に戻ってきました。
後ろの席に親を乗せてテストを受けるので、一部始終分かるわけです。＾＾
テストは減点方式です。
◆Level 2 License
ロードテストが受かったら、また、セクレタリーオフィス(SOS=Secretary of State)に行き
レベル２のライセンスをもらいます。
（この時点では、16歳になっていなければなりません。）
レベル２のライセンスの手続きをするまえの90日間に、
交通違反をしていないことが必須です。
レベル２のライセンスをもらったら、午前5時から午前0時までは一人で運転が出来ます。
◆Level 3 License
Level 2 ライセンスを取得して６ヶ月以上を経過し、
17才を越えたら、セクレタリーオフィスに行き、レベル３のライセンスの発行手続きが出来ます。
これは、1８歳前に発行される、最終のライセンスで、
（免許証 プラスチック製カード 写真つき 縦型 Graduated Driver License）
何日になると、１８歳になり、何日になると２１歳になると言うことが書かれています。
この縦型のライセンスでは、お酒を買う時などに必要なＩＤではないとうことが、一目瞭然に分かります。＾＾
レベル３のライセンスをもらったら、運転時間帯の制限はなくなります。
18才を越えると、またライセンスが送られてきます。
何日になると18才になるという記述がなくなっただけで、
ほとんど、Level 3 のライセンスと同じものです。
